I took the ASVAB twice at two different schools.I think I took it twice. I know it was pretty much mandatory at two of the high schools I went to.
Which was weird in the first one because it was a private -work at your -own pace (rip off) school. But the recruiter dude showed up and the 10 or so of us took it. To tell you a bit about the attitudes I think everyone but me Christmas tree'd the whole thing.
Then at the school I graduated from everyone was filed into the assembly hall (or at least the seniors were) and we took it. I may have either gotten out of it having taken it previously or just skipped that day.
No one wanted me.
My brother, on the other hand, was highly recruited by everyone and eventually became a Marine.
I did my taxes on my own this year, but relied heavily on the taxes he did for me the year before. There are some things you wish you never learned about people.
Yeah. I've been going to him for years now and probably will continue to because it seems too hard to find someone else. We'll see...
Oh! I missed the Sparky news but am wishing good things to come from it!!
The buffistas are my sanity cave.
DAMMIT! I forgot that I was supposed to call after 5pm to check to see if I needed to show up for jury duty tomorrow at 8am. So I'm going to have to go down to the courthouse at 8 am JUST IN CASE so I'm not in contempt.
I knew I was forgetting something important today.
It was financially more prudent to do them myself this year, since I'd gotten through the whole mega tax credit for buying a house, which I TOTALLY would have fucked up. I'm back to a fast pedestrian status for taxes. Turbotax was sufficient.
Just don't think about him until your w-2 arrives!
Cashmere, out here, it's not too late to call the night before at any hour. Are you sure it's too late to call tonight?
I just called. Recorded message saying the trial is cancelled! Yay!
I don't remember if I took the ASVAB -- probably, grew up in the Bible Belt, and we took EVERYTHING, and the Marines told me my test scores indicated I'd be excellent officer material.
I was like "Dude, I hate running and I have authority issues. You don't want me." But he kept calling.
Ironically, my nickname among is meatspace friends (coined in the mid 90's) is Captain. Not because of the recruitment, but because I am bossy and, um, usually right.
Sparky, don't wear a print, green or blue; do wear pants. a shirt with a collar is good.
I don't know if they do your hair and makeup; I can't remember how long your hair is, but half up, half down is a flattering style for TV, or a low pony if you tend to touch your hair when you're nervous.
Wear primer, foundation and powder if you have it, do a darker eye than normal, and wear a darker shade of lipstick (not vampy, just a pigmented one.) And blush or bronzer.
Keep your shoulders back, fold your hands, and think of England.
Besides, I want to hire someone who will let me watch, because I need to learn how to do this shit.
God, I'd love to find a handyman/woman who would teach me as s/he fixed.
That's not a bad idea for a business, teaching homeowners basic maintenance.
The local CC has a continuing ed class called home maintenance for women. My friend took it, but she said it was too basic...like, "This is a screwdriver..."
