"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

When I was working with my scholarship, parents told me that they paid those prices for high school hoping that their kids would get a scholarship to college.

Because books.

Ha! Amy, the George school?

Yes! I mean, great school, yay, but wow. I had no idea. I was amazed that the Friends school where my mom works, which is just pre-K through 5, is $17,000 a year. I just don't know how people afford it.

I'm thanking every higher being there is that the public schools here are so great.

Makes sense. I mean, look, if you can afford(ish) the tuition, then, why not? I can only imagine there are a lot of scholarship kids there, too, and that those tuition fees help pay for that. Is that naive? I guess that way your taxes are supporting public school, and your income is supporting private school for your kid, and maybe helping out someone else's kid. Not a bad thing at all. Just... crazy expensive!

Right??

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Happy 1st anniversary, Kate!

I've begun cleaning/organizing my office. Really, this should be in ASSCAPS with flaming angels or something. Is there a flaming-angel font? Seriously, this is a big deal.

Ha. Okay, I will get on this train. I will follow the flaming angels font. Because the traveling music school starts tomorrow! and I...I have a lot to do. But I will be much happier if I'm starting the school year with a clean and functional office.

No, I think that's true. They do support a lot of scholarship students.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Terriers pilot episode downloading right now AIgonnabeFG!

For brunch I made myself cheesy grits with bacon and green onion. I'm out of eggs, so I made the grits with milk for more protein. I fried the bacon in a pan, then poured off most of the fat and sauteed the onions. Cooked grits, added onions, then bacon, then grated cheese. NOM.

ION, I am such a dork. I have nearly taught my dog Frankie the command "Relax." It goes Sit, Down, Relax (roll over on back).

Awesome! Then you can work on "Don't do it." (When you want to go to it.)

brillig

How do you teach a dog to roll over? Do you physically roll him over the first few times?

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I'm downloading Terriers pilot too! And I tweeted.

That is so awesome, smonster!! Sorry I haven't called you back, btw. I walked five miles on Saturday in the heat of the day (to get a library book, WTF), and then fell into a coma. Yesterday, I was with The Toddler (there can only be one), and then I tried to be productive.

I have done All The Laundry. Every single stitch of clothing I own, the sheets and towels, the mattress pad, the works, and did the dishes. Now I have to put it all awaaaay, scrub the floors, vacuum, dust, etc. We'll see. I'm procrastinating by doing frivolous online shopping. I need to be stopped. I don't need any of this stuff. Luckily, I'm just putting stuff into carts and not buying it. So far.
