Mal: Well, look at this! Appears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us? Zoe: Big damn heroes, sir.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Jen, congrats on the smoking thing, but this part about your sleep schedule has me laughing:

I'm thinking 11a-7a

Man, you are going to get some GOOD sleep.

The status is NOT quo.

Ok, so we are pretty sure someone just tried to come into our house while we were still lounging in bed. Very glad we have Kaylee. Police are coming to take a report. Didn't see anyone--just heard the little three beeps of the alarm system that means someone is opening a door and heard Kaylee start barking madly at the back door by our bedroom. We assumed it was our guest in the back house at first but then found out it wasn't and called the police to file a report. Belated adrenaline dump.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

For a D&C local anesthesia is standard, I'm pretty sure. Doctors don't like to use general unless it's absolutely necessary because the potential risks are so much higher.

They're definitely not using general! Much as I'd like to sleep through it, I don't react well to general; I'd say no anyway. No, the problem is more that they didn't mention ANY anesthesia.

Yikes, Pix! Good work, Kaylee.

...little beeps, huh? My alarm system blares like the zombies are attacking when a door is opened. I've scared the crap out of myself and the cats more than once by opening a door when I've forgotten the alarm was set. I need an alarm system like yours.

Zen, if the alarm is set and goes off, it makes a loud noise (not that I even know how to set it, to be honest). This is just the standard alarm standby beeping. Kaylee needs a biscuit.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Pix, yikes! Good job, Kaylee. Extra ear scritches for you.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Good for Kaylee! And stay safe you!

The Biscuit woke me up by barking early this morning, but I'm pretty sure it was a coyote, since he was standing on the bed and barking out the bedroom window, and the other neighborhood dogs were kicking up a fuss too.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Eep, Pix. Here's hoping it was the wind or something?

I have decided to give myself a break. I was kind of beating myself up for not doing anything today, BUT! I was exhausted at the beginning of yesterday, and still spent all afternoon traipsing around town and then went to a movie. So I think I needed the sitting-on-my-ass time today. And I did make some good progress on the freelance project. And tomorrow is another day!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yay for tomorrows! We need to get back into the Onerous Task day swing, don't we?

Well, the canning is finished. Or, cooling, anyway. No obvious disasters, although you can tell the one I forgot to clear bubbles from. We'll eat that one first. But that was a lot of work for five pints of tomato sauce. I can see doing it in greater volume, because today's work would could have gone double for the same amount of effort. Still, exciting, and I will have organic tomato sauce. I could probably do another two batches of that, plus double that for canned diced tomatoes, but I think we'll have to do jellies next.
