I concur with all statements previously made here re: Highlander.
That Cracked article has made me realize why I haven't "done more" with my life: it's not because I'm not a supergenius! It's because I'm a regular human who's lazy and gets bored easily, and doesn't want to invest many many years doing *anything*. ...No, wait, I knew that.
I called in sick to work again today, because the chainsaws and woodchipper started up again at 9am. It's all about 50 yards from my office window, and I couldn't deal. Maybe I'm a whiny baby, but how the hell am I supposed to concentrate with screeching machinery AND an earache that makes wearing earplugs uncomfortable? It's been quiet for a couple hours now, but the machine is still there, lurking, waiting for me to drop my guard and relax. I have no hope for continued silence until I can look outside and that big yellow menace is gone.
When do we do onerous tasks again? Soon I hope. I actually did a few this week but there are others looming.
Oh Zen, I feel your pain. I went through a whole summer when they were building (a massive, ostentatious, monstrosity of) a house on my block and there was loud construction noise from early am until nearly 8 pm every day. You couldn't spend any time on the deck at all, and even inside it was incredibly aggravating. (And then they finished it, and it blocks most of my view and sunlight. Awesome!)
We had to move because our old space is needed for storage. wtf?!?!?
Yeah, I'm going to need you to move your desk as far back against that wall as you can get it.

My only thing with mine (to cover up hubby's snoring) is that I don't always hear my alarm going off.
Has this week seemed really really long to other people? Not bad, just long.
OTOH, it's Friday! I hope other people have more exciting weekends planned than I do (laundry, naps, rain)
Yep, extra long. And my weekend plans are similar, except more cooking and lounging and less rain. I'm trying to plan out how little I can leave the house....
I did get earplugs, DJ, but I could still hear it. And today I have an earache which makes the earplugs really uncomfortable. At least the noise is not constant today.
Ooh. The very good sushi place across the street from our new office is close enough to the office that i can use our WiFi.
Anyway, I'm taking off early today so I can get a haircut and a massage. And am drinking sake with my teriyaki salmon.
