Miss Nancy from Romper Room has died. I remember waiting for her to list my name when she looked through her magic mirror.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
There are way too many people here this afternoon. Go home, people, so I can slack off without anyone noticing! My boss at least is gone.
I took an unintentionally long lunch: hit the bank and the farmer's market, then spent fifteen minutes waiting for two very good fish tacos. NOM.
And now I have a mess of fruit and two ears of corn for dinner.
On another occasion, the show had booked a trained mynah bird named "Raja" who refused to talk — until the very end of the show.
"Nancy turned to the bird and asked Raja if he had any last words for the boys and girls," Patten said. "As the camera zoomed in for a close-up, Raja looked straight into the lens and blurted out, 'one martini, please.'"
Hah!
It hurt because I think I'm Pam, but I guess to the 24-year-olds here, I'm Phyllis.
Yeah, no.
We got out at two, and I walked home the long/scenic way with my friend. It turned out to be 6 miles, which, huh. Now I am lounging. Tomorrow I have a day date that's supposed to include a museum, but we'll see. Other than that, maybe a movie, trip to Target, definitely some cooking (I'm thinking about corn chowder) and freelance work. Which I should be starting now....
I bought two ears of corn on Wednesday night. Did someone here mention how to nuke them in the microwave?
I think I'm going home early in a second. Yeah. I'm radical like that.
Did someone here mention how to nuke them in the microwave?
Take off the outer leaves of the husk and pull off the silk, then nuke them for 3 minutes per cob, roughly. They'll steam inside the husk.
The sad thing is that I'm in the upper echelon of "old people" in my Doctoral program.
Off Topic Amy's!
You know, this would be a good thread title.
Timelies all!
Tomorrow starts with cat wrangling as it is time for the kitties' annual check-up. Tomorrow night we're going to see Stevie Nicks' concert.
The rest of the weekend is a bit more open, though I plan to get my twice-a-year haircut.
