Yikes, sarameg--I hope power comes on soon and that your car needs very little to get back on the road. Poor you!

That's really funny!
Oh, sara, that's major suck in one weekend. I hope life gets back on track quickly. And definitely fuck work for today.
sarameg, I hope you get power soon. Ours came back on this morning after 30 hours without, and then after 2 hours went off again. I cleaned out the fridge this morning before work, but I haven't opened the freezers to check what they look like.
I want a generator for xmas, after the DH and I took turns all through the storm to bail out the basement after the power went out making the sump pump useless.
My daughter's new preschool, however, was open this morning, and so I am now nanny-free (meaning we could afford the aforementioned generator). The following is for Vortex: After the two other share families didn't bother to say "Thank-you" to the DH and I for hosting the share nearly every day for the past 18 months, one of them had the nerve to email me (twice) to ask me to look around for one of their "kind of expensive" plastic cups they think they left at my house. I assured them I'd look for it. I lied.
Yikes, sarameg, good luck! I hope things get better soon.
Mostly because I get socks every year for Christmas from my sister and they are often woolen, which do me no good in San Francisco
I see these words, but they do not compute. I live in the East Bay, and I still wear wool socks 9 months of the year. When I worked in SF, I wore wool to work all year round.
Yikes, Sparky! 30 hours is a long-ass time, especially with a little one!
As someone allergic, even the words "wool socks" make my little tootsies itchy.
The only way my place stays at all clean is the cleaning service. Their impending arrival motivates me to clear up the clutter they don't deal with. So once a week, my place is clean and neat! The closets and drawers may be stuffed with crap I need to deal with, but at least it isn't spread all over every horizontal surface. A couple times I've gotten all guilty about using the service and vowed to be an Adult and keep my own place clean, but ... I don't. I'm lazy, I hate to clean, and who cleans the place is less important than that it gets cleaned.
(Best organization tip I've ever recieved but have a really hard time following is to get your stuff organized BEFORE you buy anything new to help you get organized. Shopping for organization stuff gives a totally false sense of accomplishment.)
Dammit, that's where I keep going wrong.
But the House of Reason is about to go into a massive bout of cleaning and reorganizing, because the kittens are going to be released from their room at the end of this week. Kittenproofing the house is like organizing, right?
Damn, sarameg, what a weekend of suck. Good fortune getting everything back to normal quickly! Glad Loki is home now, too. Leo once spent five hours outside and I was freaked.
