We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so very pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I don't think I've ever had Hatch chiles. Definitely something I want to try sometime.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Whole Foods had freshly roasted (like, right out front) Hatch chiles yesterday. Now they are in my fridge. Best spur-of-the-moment WFing ever.

Oooh, I am very happy for you.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I had a lovely evening at javachick's, complete with musical accompaniment by Beth's DH, and a wonderful new cocktail concocted by megan walker.

I've decided to christen it the Dark & Foggy in honor/honour of its Bay Area/London origins. [For the record, the recipe is 1 part Pimms #1, 4 parts ginger beer, and the juice of 1/2 a Meyers lemon over ice.]

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's very tasty and a fairly light cocktail. What they used to call a "2 o'clock drink" because it won't get you hammered.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

mm megan, I was listening to NPR yesterday and the Good Eats lady was describing Pimm's Cup to one of her listeners and it gave me a hankering for a drink much like the one you've concocted.

ita, that's beyond appalling. It makes me so angry how they treat you at the hospital. Arggh!

Cousins are finally out the door. I got about 4 1/2 hours sleep last night, so I am exhausted. I want C to come home soon so I can take a nap.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My office is still apparently expecting everyone to come to work tomorrow in spite of the fact that we have no public transit. Lovely.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

DH gave me his flu before he left for his motorcycle trip. It only lasted two days with him, and I hope it's the same with me as I cannot take time off work. I did go in to the office this morning, but am now at home lying around, all stuffed up and feeling like someone beat me up while I was asleep.

I am flying this afternoon so I can work in Escondido tomorrow (my birthday!) and Tuesday. Last night I unexpectedly had friends over and speed cleane like a demon. I need that kind of energy and focus more often! Today nearly missed an appointment at 11am--was eating breakfast, heard my phone bing an appointment warning at 1055 and went "why is it doing that? Oooh, crap!". Luckily it turned out my appointment was actually 11:15! Then I came home and dyed my hair and packed. When I get in, time to find a good restaurant to reward me.

Jessica, it's still down tomorrow even though the hurrican will be over? Wow.

Also, if anyone was feeling jealous of my crazy player lifestyle, the stripper show last night was Not Good. At no point was it sexy. Very disappointing. The lap dance portion was just awkward.

Because books.

My office is still apparently expecting everyone to come to work tomorrow in spite of the fact that we have no public transit.

How? Cab? Bike? Ugh.

I spent the day in bed waiting for the rest of the storm to blow away, and nursing a nasty sinus/migraine/tooth pain thing. Decided to finally watch The Resident for the JDM. Hilary Swank plays an ER doctor in NYC, and apparently she can afford a $3,800/mo apartment? I'm doubtful.
