We're having a 2 PM meeting to talk about the shutdown.
I wonder what happens if my office closes but my contract says I'm supposed to work?
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Well, with the shutdown I don't get paid, but at least I have time to, say, get my apartment ready for moving. Now I don't get paid and have to do this. A first world problem, to be sure, but I had cleared my work decks and everything!
I am waiting to be called for jury duty here -- historically, I've been called every place I've been resident, and I haven't lived anywhere longer than five years since high school.
This will be my second time to report. It would be the first time to even get to the choosing phase if that happens.
I have NEVER been called for jury duty. Okay, not since I was in college, which is a LONG time ago. And I do always register to vote, and have a driver's license, and stuff - I'm not hiding!
I very nearly ended up on a Grand Jury last fall, but my name didn't get pulled from the basket.
Oh, DJ, I don't know which I want more. Heh.
My one experience with jury duty included reading The Handmaid's Tale from cover to cover in a waiting room in a Newark, NJ courthouse. Great book, anyway.
I have a suspicion neither of those mugs would fly at my workplace. Nosirree.
Bon! You should have been learning a second language or yoga or something. Come on! Snap to it!
I've been called to jury at least four times since I move to CA. They're efficient in their inefficiency.
Hey! I think my headache went away! Exciting.
