Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I have to go up the whole ten floors at once, because we have split elevators, and the eleventh floor is the first floor on the top half. So you can only get to it from the ground floor and the floors above it by elevator. No gradual working up to that!

If I'm understanding you correctly, there is one elevator that services only floors 1-10 and then one that services 11 and up. In that case, go as many floors up as you can, take the one elevator down to the ground and then the other elevator up to the floor you need. A little time consuming, but if you're doing it only in the morning you can accommodate it by coming in a little earlier.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So tomorrow's a good day to buy Apple stock as everyone panics?

Apparently you were in middle school the last time Jobs left.

(Apple went in the crapper and lost direction etc.)

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Yeah, I was thinking that panic might be justified.

information libertarian

Since the only reason Steve Jobs would resign is he's probably about to die, that's kinda sad.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Right, so the stock will plummet and it'll be like a SALE!

Since the only reason Steve Jobs would resign is he's probably about to die, that's kinda sad.

I was thinking that too, given his statement:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Jobs was kicked out of Apple in 1985,and didn't hit rock bottom until 10 years later.

Also, Tim Cook, his replacement, has been running the day-to-day business for several years now.

I'm not worried about operations. I don't think there's anybody who's had a better sense of how to market technology and integrate it into people's lives than Job. He's consistently been able to see four years down the road and know how to shape the culture and the technology. While the record companies were sitting around with their thumbs up their asses, Jobs saw what Napster was about and created iTunes. Tim Cook won't be able to do that.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

That's what I wasthinking, too.

I was just watching Rizzoli & Isles, and saw one of my former students from about 8 years ago playing a really bit part. It wasn't even a big enough part for him to be in imdb, but I found him on Facebook, and it was he! SO weird.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Got back from my trip last night.(Yes, I am amused that while I was in San Francisco waiting for my plane to take off there was an earthquake practically in my backyard.)

Worldcon was fun, aside from some logistic problems. Am tired, but not as much as I would have expected from the jet lag.(Not to mention a certain feline who kept meowing outside our bedroom last night) I have a sneaking suspicion tomorrow may kick my ass but good.
