I have to say, Suzi, CJ is amazingly heroic. Sorry for the stress, and how amazing you are to have such faith in him.

Tom, Sorry Deetjen's didn't work out but I'd love your opinion on Big Sur Inn.

ita, I love that coat!

msbelle, happy first day being done! I hope the rest of your sundays this school year are tantrum free.

We are now home, thank god. I have to go pick up mail and I'm worried about Grace's class assignment and how it will work with nursing for her. So I have to hie myself to the post office to recover my mail.

I need to go to bed, though. Last night was INSANE; the dog got sick in our hotel room (poor dehydrated noodle) and then Grace couldn't keep her sats up and we had no oxygen anyway. Not a good night.

We drove home relatively okay -- even with a brush fire in the cajon pass that closed down 15 (blessedly, not while we needed it). But a huge accident at our exit off the freeway (to our house) had the last 4 miles of our trip fucked up.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Thanks, Kat - from both CJ and me.

K-Bug just drove back from NM and she said on her way there and on her way back she ran into horrible construction zones just before she got to her destination. Getting slowed down when you are so close makes that time go 5x slower.

Yeah, it does. There's so much construction EVERYWHERE -- Recovery Funds at work!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ok, I think this is crossing threads but I just realized that the stubbed toe never would have happened if I'd gotten up first thing and put shoes on! I did get dressed, though, and my sink is reasonably clean.

Anyway, yay for Maria check-ins, yay for home safe peoples.

K tells me no more traveling, but then I was like, WAIT! we have a three day weekend in a week. We should go see Liese and her DH....She vetoed that idea.

We have a three day weekend then too AND IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

Ooooh! Super tempting... I don't think I could coax K back into the car with the twins though. The kids were great travelers, but also, exhausting.

Perhaps another 3 day weekend in the future?

The comments on Nick Ashford's (of Ashford and Simpson) obituary are incredibly sweet and touching. Occasionally newspaper comments are a good thing. [link]

That manicure reminded me - for DCistas - the Aveda store/salon in Georgetown has a good selection of nail polish, including a limited number of Zoya polishes.
