So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

PETA. Sigh.

My mother now has a FB profile. It says she's "interested in men and women". I have to balance the mummyness against the myfamilyness, that means it's more likely not getting how the things work, versus her thinking it's an appropriate way to announce she's bisexual at 70.

Could it be both?

boy needs to call his mama when things run long like this. Fact.

He may well have no coverage. I spent the last four days in Boulder, at my brother's house in one of the canyons, and the only provider there (only 7 minutes from downtown) with any reliability was Verizon.

I hope you hear from him soon, Suzi.

I'm sure that is a big part of it Consuela. I'm just so blooming tuckered, my patience is not working.

There is one gal on the team who often gives him a ride to and from various ARP things. But she didn't go on this call, so I know I'm his ride home. I'm whining. I'm cranky. I'm sorry.

Because books.

No, that's hard, Suzi. It's one thing to do that on your own as an adult, but when he's dependent on you for transportation, etc., it's a lot to ask. I would be cranky, too.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How are you going to manage that during the school year, Suzi?

I don't think I'd let Emmett take calls when he has school the next day.

I mean, I totally admire CJ for doing this and think it could be a great path for him. But you can't do that all day and do algebra the next day.

No kidding David...and he has Algebra first period.

Our agreement is that as long as he is pulling As and Bs, then he can go on Sunday calls and the during school emergency calls (lost Alzheimer or autistic person).

The school is well aware of the ARP program and what the kids are doing. They know the kids carry pagers and may need to leave during the day. Those absences are automatically excused. But, like I said, it only works if he puts in that extra effort to keep his grades up.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

sounds like a good plan Suzi -- and I might add somethign about sometimes he can't because mom has to get up extra early , or whatever.

I had a mom asking me about volunteering at the library - she was worried about it interfering with her son's school work. But - we ask for two hours a week. I told the mom , that of course we understand that there might be a test tomorrow, or even that great aunt Gertrude is in town for one night- but that part of what I hope they gain from making the commitment to volunteering is some time management skills. And I think that part of what CJ can get from keeping up the volunteering is some of that.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

The Dark Side has cookies AND cheesecake? I'm so there. Welcome, Darth!

It's really good work CJ is doing. He's an amazing young man.

Maria, may the job work out perfectly for you!

That is my hope beth.

His phone is either off or he is still in a non-service area. I think I'm just going to go to bed and deal when he calls. Or I will when the show I'm watching ends.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I would be very startled to find out my mother was bi. Much more likely (as in not at all) would be the news that my father had fooled around with guys.

And now I'm sufficiently squicked, I'm going to bed.
