Jesus, the storm to the north is nasty. It's gone from the armageddon pink to white on the radar.

I hate hate hate that our "corporate" cards are Amex, which essentially means you are using your own card. I mean, I think if you get the actual corporate card they pay the fee, but the debt obligation is all yours.

I'm pretty sure our meal per diem is well under $100/day. Also, I think your tips are supposed to be 10-15%. The joy of having corporate in MN I guess.

We have $100/day, but $150/day in expensive cities.

Wow, that's not bad! I usually am traveling enough that it doesn't work out too badly--which is to say, I might spend $40 on a nice dinner (our max), but am unlikely to also in the same day be able to have a nice breakfast and nice lunch--more likely Starbucks and McDonald's, or airport food! So only a few times have I hit up against the $70 limit--sometimes if I want to have a $25 entree AND wine AND dessert AND tip...then I've paid the difference. I guess if I were getting room service it would be tough. And likewise, if I were somewhere for days on end and not rushing around, I might go nicer places for breakfast or lunch, but usually I'm in a hurry and eating a hospital cafeterias and I'm not a morning person so breakfast is a rush anyway.

I have my work calendar sync'd to the iPhone (through Gcal) because I need the scheduling and teleconferences like P-C. But I'm not sure I want work email on it--useful, but then I'd feel compelled to respond and start hating the tiny keyboard and reading space. What is the Good app?

We also have Amex, and yeah.

And that was the other thing our new-maybe-not-actually-in-motion policy changed was "tips should not be more than 15%" to "tips may be 15-20%".

Though one coworker said for a certain project she's working on with an Australian company, they won't pay for alcohol or tips more than 15%. Which, the alcohol is annoying but not shocking (Though Australia?) but they also have to sign a PLEDGE that they haven't had any wine at that meal even paid for separately. WTF?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Wow, that's not bad!

I rarely, if ever, come close to using it all anyway. Even when I'm on the company dime, I'm kind of cheap, since I don't drink. And paying so much for food just wigs me out.

But I'm not sure I want work email on it--useful, but then I'd feel compelled to respond and start hating the tiny keyboard and reading space. What is the Good app?

Good for Enterprise works with Microsoft Exchange, so it's secure and all that. It is pretty badass. It can also open a lot of attachments.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

This sounds like one of those rules put in place after Something Awful has happened.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh man, you guys.

So I've got this coworker, K. We're actually pretty good friends, and she's probably the only person around here I really bitch or gossip with. She's been doing this stuff a lot longer than me and she rocks at it (way more diligent than me), but because of some, uh, challenges with personal interactions she tends to burn a lot of bridges and have a lot of drama around her. She recently moved into a different role that I think she likes a lot better but that involves managing a team. She's set off some drama there too.

Annnnd tomorrow morning she's being informed that effective immediately she's in her old job and reporting to ME. And that she's on third strike and any noise in the system means she's out.

I found this all out two hours ago.

Oh, and did I mention it's her birthday today, and I'm meeting her for dinner in two hours?

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Thank you. I left a message on Jason's cell.

My gas pedal came loose on the 134 last week. The dealership has had my car for 7 days.

First they said the assembly was unavailable in the US. It would take 3-10 days to get it.

Then, they called yesterday to say the part was coming in yesterday and my car would be ready today. They called an hour ago to say that the part was unavailable. I asked, "does that mean my car is totaled for a $50 gas pedal?"

He said, "I'm doing all I can ma'am."

I said, "It's a 2004 Chevy. Why is my car totaled for a $50 gas pedal?"

"I don't think that's it. They just said it's on backorder."

"How long?"

"I don't know."

...............

Right now, I have Kristen's car because she's producing an ep in Toronto. But she will be back next week. Insurance only covers lost or collision, not mechanical failure, and my warranty ended two years ago. I can't afford a rental for an unlimited time. I'm scared, because no one seems to want to tell me that GM no longer has the pedal assembly for my make/model. Tell me that today, and give me a new fucking car, right now.

Tell me when you think you'll be telling me this. Do I have to feel this sick for a month? Six months? tell me when you're going to tell me my car is totaled over a $50 gas pedal.
