Wash: Well, I wash my hands of it. It's a hopeless case. I'll read a nice poem at the funeral. Something with imagery. Zoe: You could lock the door and keep the power-hungry maniac at bay. Wash: Oh, no, I'm starting to like this poetry idea now. Here lies my beloved Zoe, my autumn flower, somewhat less attractive now she's all corpsified and gross...

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Aww, kitties.

Desert rain! Oh, monsoon, I am so glad I didn't miss you entirely. However, lightning, I am still afraid of you. I have lived out here too long not to be freaked out by you.

Yesterday, driving through Kansas/Oklahoma/Texas, it hit 108. Right now, at home in the desert, it is 79.

The Biscuit is scared of the thunderstorm but can't figure out if he needs to comfort me or be comforted by the SO, so he keeps pacing back and forth between us.

Because books.

Amy and Aimee both have cats named Switch, right?

Yup. Although I think hers is white, and named after The Matrix character.

At least part of my weird moods are having me reconnect with people I know I like.

Always a good thing.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Tell Pete it could be worse, Vlad could lick the inside of his nose and then sneeze on his neck, like my parents' Siamese.

Also, I'm not 43. I've been thinking I was 43 for...weeks now.

I'll let you know when it's time to be 43, since I'll be turning 33 and having my Jesus year.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Desert rain! Oh, monsoon, I am so glad I didn't miss you entirely.

Mmmm, rain in the desert.

It is ten degrees hotter than the forecast says it should be right now. I'd like it to cool off. I want fresh air.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

BTW, Loki has a shoe fetish too.

So does Worthington. (Yes, my husband made a nearly three-minute video of our cat ecstatically rubbing himself all over one of my shoes. For some reason -- I think we were cleaning the apt. -- our shower curtain is also in the middle of the floor, and the Decemberists' "Why We Fight" is playing rather loudly in the background. I love this video.)

So I just had an awesome long phone call with my brother, who is going to be working on a movie with Cary Elwes, Michael Gladis (of Mad Men fame), and Clea Duvall! He mentioned Clea Duvall's name and then said, "well, you probably don't know her," and I was all, "from the lesbian indie classic But I'm a Cheerleader and an early BtVS episode in which she played an invisible assassin?? Of course I know Clea Duvall!" So excited for him.

How are people?

Things are pretty good around here.

I'm busy with new biz stuff.

And coping with the Warren Jeffes news stories in ways I didn't expect, until it snuck upon me.

I didn't realize that I was reacting until I noticed that I was self-medicating with food.

When I mentioned to a good friend what was happening, in perfect form she declared, "Hey, that's great news!"

You might wonder how becoming physically ill over photographs of a pedophile is good news, but it turns out that she was spot on. While I am totally healed emotionally, I still have sense memory that I will likely never be free of. Frankly, I don't know that I need to be.

So, now I can manage my impulses and choose better coping mechanisms than cupcakes. I am immensely grateful that I am not much worse off. So, once the news story is gone...which it will be soon...I can put it out of my body and get on with my life.

I won't pretend to be accepting. I did have a moment of wishing that Jeffes be released into the general population of a maximum security prison...but that isn't me.

I just wish I had the power to heal and prevent his affliction.

Sigh. I love life lessons, but sometimes...not that much.

Other than that, I'm happy!

Wow. Worthington loves that shoe. That's ecstasy right there.
