Anya: We should drop a piano on her. It always works for that creepy cartoon rabbit when he's running from that nice man with the speech impediment. Giles: Yes, or perhaps we could paint a convincing fake tunnel on the side of a mountain.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

And Sparky lives up to her tagline.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Severe insomnia is kicking my ass. I've been up since 3. I feel like ass.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Severe insomnia is kicking my ass. I've been up since 3. I feel like ass.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

It's not burning-crosses-in-the-front-yard/throwing-rocks-through-the-windows style overt hostility and discrimination, but when anybody questions the rationale behind a matter of straight white male privilege I can pretty much start a countdown to the appearance of someone who (1) feels threatened by attention being focused on a problem or inequity that he's not on the losing end of, and (2) wishes everyone would just stop talking about it.

AWESOME. Also, YES.

I can't do this. I've been up by 4 every day this week. I can barely see straight. I was really REALLY going into the office today, but I don't even know if I have the energy to work from home.

Because books.

I feel guilty. I slept through the night for the first time all week, but I think that was the sinus drugs and the lack of coughing.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I think this is right on, but I also agree that the kind of people arguing you on this will see the mention of privilege and either misunderstand as noted or get even more het up. (Heh. Het up.)

Relatedly but hopefully not deraily: This is way less of a thing that the situation Matt's grappling with, and feels a little silly, but I am finding myself increasingly irked by the lack of female zombies in Plants v. Zombies.

Librarian Warlord

I woke up at 1:30 because K fell out of bed, despite the bed rail that is supposed to stop these things from happening. Despite having lived with her for two years, I'm still surprised how she manages to defeat any and all safety measures we might attempt.
