I got stupid. The money was too good.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I think it's yield rather than stop, now, but I'm not positive.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Back in the day when everything was on paper, I was going to become a notary for all of the government applications I was working on, but I never did it, and now everything's online anyway! Of course, not everything-everything....

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Today was Matilda's first day of kindergarten.

She was very excited and woke up early and wanted her hair in a "bundle" (bun) and pestered us endlessly to put her lunch in her lunchbox.

The entire school population met on the schoolyard and kids were rounded up for their new teachers and the new principal came out and gave a nice little pep talk and Matilda found her good friend Alizon and they walked to class together hand in hand, grinning.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Dang, that's an early school year! NYC public schools don't start up until after Labor Day.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think it's way uncool to put "Harold and Maude" in this list of movies. Just failing to get the point.

I've been reading lots of articles on women with short hair and I forget to get it's such a big deal, and then I remember how seriously so many people take it, long or short.

Because books.

Poor CJ. It's so great that he's doing that, though.

The charter school here starts today, although public doesn't start until the 30th. The charter school has a 200-day year.

I'm always the only person in the salon getting my hair cut so short. The other day I was there and two different girls were getting hugely long extensions.

Trust my rage

That's how I grew up but Ellie starts here on Thursday. I think flea's kids started last week. My mom's school started last Tuesday.

In Northern California they tend to have that weird extra "ski-week" vacation in February. So two weeks off for xmas, then another week in Feb, then Spring break is a week in April.

and then I remember how seriously so many people take it, long or short.

Eh, no big deal.

Every new person I have to convince I really want it that short. At least they've stopped trying to talk me out of it. That used to be very tiresome, "You'd look so pretty if...." No, thanks, I'd rather look like a dog.

Much simpler to get it cut by a man, and by a black man. The moment of disbelief is statistically the shortest.
