Well, you'd better not be thinking what I think you're thinking, because my answer is the same as always — no threesomes unless it's boy-boy-girl. Or Charlize Theron.

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

The daffodils and forsythia are the first things blooming here, and all the bright yellows are making me happy. There's an intersection I drive through almost every day that's planted with thousands of daffodils on all four sides, and driving through it makes me smile. I can't wait for the tulips to come up-- there's a hotel in Woodley Park near my old job that's a riot of color every April and May.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Nothing is blooming here because we got 8 fresh inches of snow! WTF?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

We had snow today, and thunder hail yesterday.

Purple crocuses are my sure sign. In my old commute, there was a triangle of 'em. Now, I go by my hood. We have crocii!

I'm zone 6 and the snowdrops started two weeks ago, the Witchhazels have been blooming for a month or so, Winter Aconite, crocus, and just this week Glory of the Snow. There's a very cool Japanese tulip that has buds getting ready to pop in a week or two. Oh, and the Apricot and the Winter Jasmine and Winter Honeysuckle (which smells divine).

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

"thunder hail" kills me. I mean WTF?

I grew up in California. I'm not supposed to experience this shit.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

What's the thingy in that country that swarms along the ground and leaves behind no living thing?

The Red Weed.

Comparison between army ants and driver ants, the driver ants (unlike the army ants) are blind, yet they're the ones that are more dangerous. It's just too easy for something human-sized to get out of the way of the army ants. (Too easy for the drivers too - also called siafas, IIRC - unless you're an infant, infirm or blotto. But there are stories of such happening.) In fact, the army ants are often welcomed into people's houses - it's far better than calling the exterminator.

That giant weta photo is fantastic, the pose is just perfect.
