Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Things I didn't know about Elizabeth Taylor: [link]

In 1977, JTA reported that Taylor had offered herself as a hostage for the Air France hijack victims being held captive by terrorists at Entebbe, Uganda, before Israelis rescued them. That offer, made personally to Israeli Ambassador Simcha Dinitz, was graciously declined, but Dinitz told Taylor, “The Jewish people will always remember it.”

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm pretty damn unmoved by the death of Taylor. I mean, I'm glad she beat the odds to have a long and fruitful life, but still to me she was just another pretty face from long ago.

You know, I don't really have much of a sense of Elizabeth Taylor before the big hair and Larry Fortensky and AIDS activism days. The only movie I've ever seen her in was Father of the Bride, and I think I saw that on an airplane.

Anyone know what these flowers might be? They are basically the size of my pinky nail. Teeny, teeny. I had them last year too, so they are I guess a bulb of some sort. [link] [link]

Maybe ipheion (starflower)? Mine are bigger, though, more like 3/4 inch. Hm, and ipheion are one bloom per stem, and it looks like you have two on some.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Apparently the take-out cashier at the place I bought dinner really doesn't like Caesar salad dressing. When I called in my order she asked me if I wanted the dressing (who would order it without?) and despite my answering "yes" I discovered there was no dressing when I got home.

Yeah, mine are probably under 1/2" inch diameter, tops. And they have a little pistil vessel. Thing. Like daffodils, but not a frill, more egg shaped. Waxy petals like iris and daffodils and their ilk.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

thanks so much, everyone. And, holy crap, 'Suela, that's truly horrific and awful.

Another horrific thought is my employee evaluation is next month.
