There's a new park with a playground in a sort of marginal neighborhood in my city, and the only people I have ever seen there are several middle aged men (50s-60s) in a group. I don't know if they are homeless or from the neighborhood, or if they are responsible for the empty bottles around the park. But it doesn't inspire me to take my kids down there, I tell you.

I just can't get over how fucking whiny that article was. The sign that she's bitching about being too small to see? It's about the same height as my four year-old. (And I don't mean it's at his eye level, I mean it's at least four feet tall. If you sit on that bench in that playground all the time, unless you are blind or illiterate, you know damn well what it says.

If she was sitting there as some kind of civil disobedience thing to protest the law about adults in playgrounds? FINE. I have no problem with that. I think the laws are there to create welcoming spaces for children who might not otherwise have a free space to play, but fine. Take a stand, go nuts.
