I am attempting and mostly failing to not eat All the Food. I'm at a work meeting all weekend in Atlanta, and they feed us three meals and two snacks a day. OMG. We were all excited at the first snack, it was healthy food! Apples with bee pollen yogurt (??) and carrot mango smoothies in shot glasses, and smoked salmon an avocado on a slice of bread! And then the afternoon snack was soft pretzels, popcorn, and full size candy bars. Ugh.

Allyson. Whoa. You say he's in Ninja Assassin?
Yes. Mostly kicking the shit out of things and bleeding.
Hmm. These things are relevant to my interests.
This is what I am saying.
Mmm, that healthy snack sounds great, meara.
I think Ninja Assassin is the movie Ben keeps saying he loves. Probably not for the same reason, though.
Oh, for changes: Wuthering Heights! On later rereads, everyone is completely fucked up!
Perhaps the biggest eye-opener was rereading the Chronicles of Narnia after taking a comparative religions class in high school and finally getting all the biblical references. It was the event that really taught me the value of returning to a text.
Changing text perceptions: Gone With the Wind, and Ashley Wilkes. First read, at age 12, I thought he was a romantic, tragic figure. By the time I got to my fourth or so read, in my early twenties, I just wanted him to get a grip and stop trying to live in the past; or, at the very least, decide which stupid ideal he was pining for.
Anyone else who grew up in NY in the seventies or eighties remember Magic Garden?
I have The Magic Garden on VHS, but I don't have a VCR anymore.
