Yeah, that's nice. Not that I ever work 9 hours in my current job! Yay current job!

Some people do 4/10, but it is reportedly hard. We have generous work from home policies, too. Fed ftw!

My office used to do what they called the "four tens" - work four ten-hour days and get one day off. Only it wasn't that simple - there was this complicated formula for how many days you had to work ten hours in order to get a day off, it always had to be a Friday, only in the summer. I never did it, but I'd see the people "working" ten hour days ... and the last couple of hours were spent not working. And you could never tell when someone was going to be in. Eventually, as you might guess, the program was discontinued.

I may not be making as much money as I could on a 30hr schedule, but man is it great to have Mondays off, especially in the stressful early phase when I'm learning the systems and all. Plus, it's late spring/early summer and there's the possibility of really nice days.

Years ago, I had a jackass boss who decided someone needed to be in our department from 8:30 to 7 every day. This was especially jackass because no one would think to call my extension if they were looking for him. But whatever -- I got Friday as my late day, and it was AWESOME. I didn't have to be in until 11, and if you think I ever stayed as late as 7, you have another think coming....

Yeah, fact is, if you're not overloaded to begin with, a lot of days there just isn't 10 hours of stuff that needs to be done before you go home. And if you're not on deadline, you're running out of steam by that point.

My BIL works 4-10. And, since his workplace changes between two different locations, sometimes his commute can take 60-75 minutes each way on top of the 10 hour workday.

We do have summer hours which can be either a 4-10 or a 5/4/9 or some variation. The twins who sit next to me work 9 hours each day and then only do a half day on Friday mornings, that way they're home by noon.

Firing up a whole conventional oven for two cupcakes is a crime against the environment. You should make the mug cake instead.
