I always thought the name Serenity had a vaguely funereal sound to it.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Announcement: I found a new cocktail to make at home, involving both bourbon and tequila.

Recipe, please?

But I maintain those people are missing out on the awesomeness of motorsports.

You can have all of mine--I grew up in Indy and don't need it.

Luckily, irksome friend eventually showed up, we checked out a new bar with fab cocktails and, shockingly, quiet! on a Saturday night! Then went dancing, where I managed to avoid making out with the ex, but ended up feeling very old when we agreed that managing to stay until 1AM was totally sufficient.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Recipe, please?

ice
2 ounces bourbon
1/2 ounce anejo tequila
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1/4 ounce simple syrup *
lime wedge

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Put everything but the lime wedge in the shaker, shake well, then strain into a martini glass. Garnish with the lime wedge.

  • Simple syrup recipe: combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in small sauce pan, bring to a boil over moderately high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat, cool, and store in refrigerator in a tightly sealed glsss jar.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh man! I'm listening to Liane Hansen's last day on Weekend Edition Sunday. Sad.

Super sad. But it's been a Liane going off the air fest for a few weeks (months?) now. This has more impact in my life than Oprah going off the air.

It's overcast this morning, which is good. But yoiks. Chilly too.

Yeah, I haven't listened to much WESun lately, but it has been a retirement-fest for months. I actually figured I had missed her last day, since who wants to work on the long weekend??

Now tagless for your comfort.

Memorial Day usually has a bit more solemnity topped off with grill food.

Noah's anime eyes are KILLER. How does that kid not have a pony yet?

brillig

It's snowing in the mountains again. It's supposed to be in the 80s by Thursday. I am not enjoying this.

Noah doesn't want a pony. He wants an AT AT Walker.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What's magic about dump trucks? Yesterday I caught a toddler trying to drag his mother down a side corridor towards one as she insisted she could "see it just fine from here!" But he was fixated.
