Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So, let me get this straight: People in France are rioting because the government wants to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62?

Punishingly Intricate

So, let me get this straight: People in France are rioting because the government wants to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62?

The problem, as I understand it, really is that this means that there will be even fewer jobs available for young people. It's not really about having to retire 2 years later.

ALSO! I learned this morning, France has a 10-day holiday (from schools) for Halloween??!!! What a magical place!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Those raunchy Aussies!

I have been adamantly trying to steer brain away from self-recrimination, and my iPod on the drive in was helping, with this lyric from P-Control: She said "Mama didn't tell 'em what she told me 'Girl, U need Pussy Control'". I am trying to imagine my mother having that conversation, and it's just not happening. M's mother, however, would totally have it. In fact, I'm pretty sure she did. She had no compunctions talking about her daughter's sex lives, to them or to other people, and they totally shared with her.

I got put in place as chaperon a lot, because I was older and straight-edge prude. It was a very futile exercise, but I like to think maybe I capped their shenanigans a little bit, just because I wasn't willing to be party to all of their shit.

Problem was, N (3 of 3) is the sexiest person I've ever met. Trying to chaperon her is like a boy pissing in a windstorm. She was pretty, but not always the prettiest in the room, especially when her sister N (2 of 3) was in the room. She had a slamming body, but so did all her sisters.

But she had the sex affect. She knew just how to act. How she had that down pat at 16, I don't even want to know, but she was top of the game. We'd try and explain to guys about to meet her about the impending tsouris, and they'd be disdainful and imply they were in control of their reactions, but withing twenty minutes they'd have a dizzy confused look on their faces and she'd be in their laps.

She gave me lessons once, and I've since blanked most of it out. I have never gotten that much attention before or since, and I don't want to live that way. Ugh, boy cooties.

But she was certainly a lesson in humility. At a point where I thought I was decent at getting male attention, N would show up, and boom! All the other women might as well be wearing sackcloth and ashes. She'd pull >85% of the attention right into her lap. Walking down the street with her at night was a nightmare. More than once I'd find myself yelling "She's sixteen! Leave her alone!" Didn't really work that often.

Oh, I didn't know that.
