Everything looks good from here... Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... 'This Land.' I think we should call it 'your grave!' Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die! Oh, no, God! Oh, dear God in heaven!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ugh. Now, I liked The Killing Joke. I thought it was appropriately horrific for a Batfamily Joker tale. But hearing this bit of editorial backstory is icky: when Alan Moore asked if it was okay to maim Babs, "Len got back onto the phone and said, ‘Yeah, okay, cripple the bitch.’”

Librarian Warlord

This morning I went out to my car, and it didn't start up right away and it was making a little clicky noise... which turns out will cost me $750. Drat. At least it didn't happen on my birthday, and it is happening over a few days when we don't need two cars.

Friends on FB found the cutest puppy in Dallas, probably less than a year old. DJ, if you know anyone interested give me a holler. Not sure if this will be visible: [link]

Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

My sister and sister-in-law dressed up my nephew Simon as Captain Hammer for Halloween. I've been waiting and waiting for a picture. Adorable!

There's a few more new pictures in the same set. He's gotten so big. I envy his eyelashes.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Love the "de-aging ray." So that's why he's so small....

Punishingly Intricate

Oh, hey! New Yorkers! I was hoping to get our friend who is officiating our ceremony (and is the reason we met) a gift card to a restaurant in NY to thank her. They live in S. Orange, NJ so night out in NY is a usual thing. She is a vegetarian.

Any suggestions? (I can't post on FB because I want it to be a surprise for her. I can check yelp and Chowhound too but you guys are usually the best source of info!)

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Blossom or Candle 79. There's also Peacefood Cafe, which is supposed to be good, but I haven't tried it yet so I can't really recommend it.

Because books.

As long as she's not vegan, there's always Artisanal, lisah. It's not vegetarian, but it's CHEESE heaven.
