but I probably have 10 or 12 cups a day when at the theatre, because I have to stay awake for so long. This seems to lead to problems.
Um, yeah! Of course it would!

For whatever reason tea's diuretic properties hit me a lot harder than coffee, or the water that I drink through the day. I made the mistake of drinking one of those 26 oz. razzleberry teas on the road to Pickwick this summer and less than two hours later I was running for the first convenience store restroom I could find and peeing like a racehorse.
I have a cold - therefore I did not sleep well - therefore - 10 to 12 cups of coffee might be a necessity . . . although would then prevent me from sleeping well tonight. This is a spiral of badness.
I try to avoid coffee when I have a cold or flu, under the theory that the diuretic properties of coffee would be bad when you really want to keep hydrated.
I have 1-2 large glasses of iced coffee in the morning and then often drink decaf iced tea all afternoon. I am not a good model for hydration.
mac slept in my bed last night which means I slept horribly.
I weeded for a little over an hour this morning. One tiny area of the yard. Never-ending work.
tommyrot - that makes sense but. . . I am not sick enough to not be at work which means that I must be awake and therefore -coffee.
msbelle, I generally listen to podcasts while I weed, et cetera -- any yard work that doesn't involve loud powertools, anyway.
I have just been enjoying the quiet and alone. I've met a couple of neighbors being out there. If I could weed all day I probably would right now.
Guys, caffeinated drinks do not dehydrate you. The dehydration effects of caffeine are not enough to overcome the hydrating effect of the drink itself. So drink up! E.g.: [link]
ita, I am confused. Why doesn't the sleep specialist want you on Ambien if Ambien was working for you?
Oh and as to the rest of the conversation, I loves my coffee, I tell you what. Am going to go make another pot in a sec and do a bit of grading.
What? I only got one cup from the first pot. Stop looking at me that way.
