Flash flood warnings for LA County, for those who may not be watching TV.
What is this sipping chocolate? What makes it different from other chocolates? Why do I suddenly sound Jewish High Holiday?
Just lost power again. I wonder if it's just our building.
What is this sipping chocolate?
It's chocolate that you sip. It's how the Europeans first experienced chocolate!
What makes it different from other chocolates?
It's super-crazy rich.
Can't you just fake it with other chocolate? I mean, just use more?
Lost power AGAIN. And this time there was cursing from across the courtyard.
My poor TiVo. It didn't even have time to come all the way back up before it went down again. I don't think I'm resetting my oven clocks until tomorrow. Thank dog my alarm clock sets itself off the internet.
It's shaved chocolate, not cocoa powder, is my understanding.

So it's really more like drinking melted chocolate?
That might actually be too rich for me.
Can't you just fake it with other chocolate? I mean, just use more?
Maybe? The directions on the can have you use the same amount of mix (3T) for 1/2 cup of sipping chocolate as a cup of decadent hot chocolate, though you are also supposed to add sugar to the second.
And the 3T of mix is supposed to weigh 28g, so maybe you could do the same thing with 1/3C milk and 1 oz of bittersweet or semi-sweet or whatever you like chocolate? With lots of blending?
Eta: the ingredients are cocoa powder, cane sugar, chocolate liquor, and cocoa butter

You mix it up with milk?
My new TV has no controls that aren't remote. This is surprisingly frustrating.
Please note, I don't actually know what I'm talking about.
Jesse, if I see any I'll pick some up for you. I didn't realize it was seasonal or I would have loaded up last time I saw it.
I always make hot cocoa with milk. Granted, I also use the powdered stuff, and mix in a couple of generous shakes of cinnamon, but I think it's nom!
William-Sonoma no longer carries Harney & Son's Tower of London blend for my dad. The regular stuff, but not the blend I need. Damn.
I managed to get out into the garden for about 45 minutes today, and it did me a world of good. It got to the high 70's today, and I cleared a ton of leaves from the front...garden-to-be, where the crocus and hyacinths are coming up. I have a LOT to do to make my yard semi-attractive this year, but it was nice to get out into the day.
Now I'm finishing up lesson plans. I've given myself a stern talking to, and my students can suck if if their papers are handed back longer than they would like. I am NOT going to be pulling regular 80 hour weeks anymore. 65 is my max.
