Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I'm a bad bad person for getting a costume for my dog.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Dang, Jon Stewart just made me cry. Wish I was there.

I was, and you couldn't really hear or see anything but the crowd where I was, but I'm glad I went. I'll catch up with what was happening on stage some other way.

I went in with a friend of mine. We were going to park at one of the Metro stations and take the train in, but there were lines going into the station when we got there, so we bit the bullet and went into DC, and managed to find good parking near Chinatown. The only downside was we had to leave a half hour early, but since you couldn't see or hear it very well, I figured I got enough of the experience. Also got a souvenir towel, so there's that.

I was kicking myself that I was all the way to New Haven before I realized I'd forgotten my camera, but all I would have gotten was pictures of people's costumes and signs. Since it wasn't the main reason for this trip, I consider it a win for the weekend, all things considered. The drive down, however, nsm.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Hey, anyone got any good news for the weekend?

Not really for the weekend, but yesterday's Halloween at work was fun, and my floor won the best costumes/decorations contest so we get a pizza lunch sometime soon. (okay, we were the only floor to do much, but still)

People seemed to like my signs too [link]

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Went to the worm composting lecture today at this beautiful garden next to a water plant. It was such a perfect fall morning, meaning, too cold! But nice. And now I have worms munching away and cat noses working overtime.

I'm trying to convince myself to put on outside pants and go walk somewhere for exercise, but after going on a bit of a retail therapy spree, I'm trying not to spend money. My options are to walk near the lake or walk to the grocery store and dump a bunch of coins in the Coinstar machine for an iTunes gift card.

I ordered this coat: [link]

I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it. It's a bit cassock-y on me. I don't know if that's a pro or a con.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ooh, is it coat sale time?? I want a new coat.

Nice, Perkins!

Probably, Jesse. I've seen coat sale promotions and mark-downs.

Nice.

How do I not own any true red lipstick? I mean, I never wear it, so there's that, but I own many lipsticks I don't wear.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

I'm glad Mac came back and started helping out, msbelle.

sarameg, a composting gardener somewhere would probably love to help you get the leaves in exchange for some organic matter.

Cool on the new suit, Jesse! I've never had a custom-made suit and I'll bet it's really nice.

Got up early again this am. Went outside before breakfast to use the parts we have from the 12' x 4' bed to make one 6' x 4' bed instead (until the rest of the parts arrive for making up the other one). Those beds were expensive as hell but it's impressive that even a gimpy person like me can construct one (although I picked up only one piece at a time for weight reasons). It looks good and only awaits the soil we'll pick up on Monday.

Because I knew I'd be glued to the TV watching the rally anyway, I decided to turn on the kitchen TV and finish making enchiladas. Very labor-intensive even using pre-made enchilada sauce. I did the beef roast in the slow cooker overnight with enchilada sauce and diced tomatoes. I took the roast out and shredded the beef. I took the sauce and added cumin, oregano, garlic and a bit of beef broth concentrate to give it a middle range (it's a hot sauce so the upper range was there but it was missing much heft in the middle). Then one of my brothers arrived with his wife and they got to yakking with my dad in the kitchen just as the rally reached its climax. So I'll have to see if I can find that online somewhere.

I washed all the dishes from my project. And I'm exhausted so I'm going to try to nap. Then I have to get up and vacuum an enormous amount of square footage because that is my household chore this week. Phooey.

I hope folks have great days!

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

mac has plopped in front of the tv again. won't lift another hand.

I have moved the bins to the garage, along with 2 containers of summer clothes. second load of laundry is in. A box has been emptied and broken down (yes there are still a few boxes).
