I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

How does DST save money? because from my POV it leads to significantly higher instances of heart attacks, traffic accidents, and general sickness. Not to mention causing time-related pandemonium among folks who don't listen to the radio or watch network tv (my dad forgets EVERY SINGLE TIME but it doesn't matter because he's a hermit. he usually notices a day or two later since his laptop automaticallly updates) without actually creating any more daylight. I can't think of a single good reason the US continues to indulge in the pretense of controlling time. Anyone care to enlighten me?

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Cats have been morning obnoxious all weekend. At 3:40 yesterday morning Avon decided he wanted to play. At 6 am KK was concerned that my alarm wasn't going off and started pulling my hair to wake me. This morning around 5 am Kripkat started dominating Avon over and over, with terrifying cat screams for about two hours. I think the asthma meds are making him too friskinated.

DST really fucks with me. Takes me weeks to get to a normal sleep pattern. Switching back fucks with me too. In a Garcentric world,we would pick a time and stick to it. It could be DST. Just don't fall back! Or maybe Chavez was not so crazy when he set a permanent time a half hour off from the rest of the world, halfway between DST and non-DST.

In terms of energy savings - evidence mixed. But I honestly don't think it is a positive in terms of health.

Bah. Woke up still sick: this thing seems to have moved into my throat/chest. I'm supposed to go make Sunday dinner for my parents but all I want to do is sleep and lounge on the futon.

Despite all the talk about oatmeal this week, I made eggs with sauteed kale and mushrooms for breakfast. Protein is good, although when I'm sick I'm not usually very hungry.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Hookers and blow, y'all!

How is it almost noon and I've barely done anything yet? Oh, right, because we lost an hour to the DST changeover. I don't mind the extra hour of sunlight in the evening, but man, I really dislike losing that hour today.

Re: the oatmeal convo last night, I had oatmeal with peanut butter and banana this morning. It was super tasty and really filling. This may become a habit, since I'm trying to lay off the soymilk, which means my usual breakfast of cereal will become an occasional treat instead.

Maybe I'll have oatmeal with jelly beans this morning. Since contact with oatmeal will turn them into a health food.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Why are you quitting soy milk, Kate? Oh, and hookers and blow backatcha!

All y'all DST haters need to come live by me and erika. We are the last continental holdouts against DST. And we'll never change, because the last thing we need is more sunlight. We have plenty of sunlight thankyewverymuch, ask the Valley folks in their 110 degree days.

Once all the members of my family lived in places that didn't change: Arizona, Indiana, Hawaii. But Indiana caved, wusses.

Riiiiiight. Because that's EXACTLY what I said last night.

FANTASTIC goddamn discourse. Fuck it.
