"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Right? Four inches.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I mean, seriously, we are speaking in comic book language here.

Our wings are not tired.

I wish SO MUCH that none of us had such overwhelming stresses.

Indeed.

Still watching the news loops. I am about to take a break by watching taped fictional tv. I see Fringe, Bones, and House in the queue, lots of horror there of the not really real variety. Maybe recorded soaps would be even better.

The links on the earth moving are simply amazing.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm having a bit of a stressy week myself, even if for the most part it's good stress, like starting a new job. The tsunami news just puts the damn week over the top and not in the good way.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Hugs to all who need them.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I'm not happy that anyone is feeling sucked into the rabbit-hole of despair.

We're going to need a bigger rabbit hole.

It's hard to separate real information from "Meltdown! Meltdown!" but it looks like the building around containment had what was probably a hydrogen explosion, but containment is intact. They're dumping seawater and boron (which slows the reaction) on the Fukushima Daiichi Unit 1 core, which means they've given up on saving the reactor, but it seems to be taking the temperature and pressure down pretty well. There have been some offsite releases, but it doesn't seem to be significant so far. I'd like to see some numbers that make sense.

The IAEA update pages where overwhelmed and they were driven to start doing updates on Facebook, which strikes me as funny.

This will end up as second worst civilian accident, I suspect. Ultimately, the question is going to be "why didn't the diesels start."

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I hate how so many people seem stuck in the poo lately. I wish better things for all of us.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Jengod!

Why did I decide to sleep on my...not sofa last night? And why didn't I decide to do it in a comfortable position?

I have a bunch of things I need to do today. I'd like to skip forward to the parts I *want* to do. Also, the headache can leave. One of the warning questions the ER asks--was it sudden onset? I know that if the answer is yes, they will treat me differently, and go the stroke/spinal tap route. But what does waking up with a full-fledged headache mean? They've never said.

It does seem like a major confluence of the suck these past couple week. I don't even know what to think. Maybe our biorhythms are aligned.

Also, why does my browser think biorhythm is a word and spoilt is not?

You know, having had our UPS BLOW UP recently, I wouldn't be surprised, if absent the generators actually sustaining damage (and those things are used because they are so robust and can operate in bad shape,) the UPS took damage or something. But I'm a little scarred for life over that incident, so, biased.

Of to Ellicott City....

IO9 talks about the nuclear plant damage. For once, on a testy issue, I like most of the comments. There's a lot of info-dumping going on there.
