Dear New York Times, could you please provide a MAP of Japan? I don't know where Sendai is!

Natter 67: Overriding Vetoes
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, nail polish, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
The problem with no longer working in the industry is that it's hard to get real nuclear information. It sounds like Fukushima I has declared what would either be a site area or a general emergency here. Apparently it's shut down but has lost offsite power and the diesel generators. I wouldn't expect any significant radiation outside the plant boundary, but they could lose the reactor.
The whole thing is so scary and awful! Ugh.
However: Happy birthday, tommyrot! And still no baby!Nilly??
Happy birthday to tommyrot!
what with my due date being Monday, which means that my life can turn completely upside down and have all these brand new wonderful challenging things in them, or that it'll be a completely regular work-week, who knows
Wishing you a speedy (and soon) delivery, Nilly. How exciting that it's so close!
Oh god, what horrible news to wake up to. I had no idea this had happened when I posted in Tech, and now it feels callous and shallow to have done so.
Have posted the two cousins I'm friends with on Facebook - but haven't heard anything.
Most of my family is in Tokyo.
I hope everyone's ok and that you hear from them soon, sumi.
One of my cousins replied and he and his family and my aunt and uncle are all away from the worst hit and his sister - who lives in one of the worst hit places (Iwate Prefecture) happens to be in Hokkaido doing research so she is also safe.
I'm very relieved.
Oh god, what horrible news to wake up to.
Seriously, though Sumi's news makes it a little easier.
