"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Chop sockey, bonny? I didn't think we still talked like that.

Thanks, ita.

So taxes? Still awful. We have extra income coming in, and I am unsure why it's so much higher than last year, so I have some more research to do, but it's a damn lot of money.

As my reward for wrestling with the taxes, I wrestled with the new surround sound system. And I got it working! Well, kinda working. I mean, it's only half a surround right now. So, not surround at all, actually. But the SO will have to do the brackets for the rear speakers. And it's a little wonky as far as where it's sounding, and there's some buzz. But I think that's mostly to do with only half the system being set up.

So the next thing to deal with is that the whole media stack is across the room, near the projector. The SO intends to run the video cable through the roof, but we have yet to buy them. Plus once we get the whole shebang in the closet, we're going to need a Harmony remote to operate the stack. I think.

But yay me, because I got it working! Stripping cables and stuff like that is among my favorite work.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Something for the Good Things tumbler?

Sure!

I have to finish my taxes soon, and meh. I need to find some forms. Also, relatedly, I think I'm not going to go to the crossword tournament this year, which is a bummer.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Whew, I finally got the chicken that was supposed to be last night's dinner in the oven. Pretty simple meal, too, I just had to rest after every.single.step. But I soon I will have deliciousness, and for several meals after, probably.

Yay, surround sound system set-up! Also yay tax wrestling, not for the big bill outcome and needing to do more of it, but for doing any. I need to do some more work on mine - I think I'll get a refund, so the earlier I finish the better, and yet, procrastination beckons.

Hey, L'oreal is looking for men to try products at home, if we know anyone who might be interested. Sign up here: [link] It's fun because they send you free shit.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I got my brows waxed. Whew. They were starting to talk to each other at night. Annoying.

I tried some Stila lip stain at the store, and while it's a pretty color, I am wearing it to see how long it lasts. I'm thinking that I might like Benefit's stain/gloss stick combo better, since the stain doesn't add moisture. Anyone used the Benefit lip stain? Likes, dislikes?

I also made it to the grocery store AND I got my Slacker Secret Santa present from Israel, which I squeed about in Good Riddance 2010! What a nice Saturday!

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I think that enduring the wind and snow today means that I deserve some soda bread. I wonder if I can find some.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

You absolutely deserve soda bread.

And huh, I totally let a pot boil dry while doing all the wrangling. Perhaps I should be less self-congratulatory. But, I did not burn down the house so at least I`m not on fire?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Regarding eliminating cheese, eggs, etc., to lower cholesterol, I've read a lot of boring-ass medical studies on it, and -- overall, in large population studies -- it's not really that effective.

Yeah, I've been reading the same thing. Basically I'm resigning myself to more oatmeal and going to the gym 5 days a week.

Which -- maybe I have a disconnect, here. When people make oatmeal at home, do they just cook it in water and then eat it plain?

Close to it. I'll add some fruit and a drizzle of something sweet, but it's a sugar explosion that I'm trying to avoid, not fat.

I love a savory breakfast!

Ooh. Thanks for that link, lisah! I totally prefer savory things for breakfast.

Even though I have a cold, I was thinking that I could maybe go outside and walk, but the sideways snow has convinced me to stay inside. I'll do laundry, and consider whether I currently have the lung capacity to clean the bathroom.

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Ooh, what size were the Fluevogs, Jilli?

I am being strong and reselling two of the six dresses. And at least three of the petticoats. That way I should come close to breaking even.
