I have to see if my mother still has her crockpot, or if it went away in the big purge of moving. I just found a bunch more recipes I want to try.
Amy, this site (A Year of Slow Cooking) has some great recipes: [link] There's a vegetarian lasagna that I've made twice now, and it's excellent.
I also use the crock pot to make chili, for no other real reason than I feel safer walking away from a crock pot for hours, but not from a vat on a stove burner. It's not logical, but then neither am I.
Erin, I e-mailed my librarian teammates to see if they knew of any suitable positions for your sister.
I feel safer walking away from a crock pot for hours, but not from a vat on a stove burner.
Yeah, there's no way I could walk away from a pot on the stove. No illogical! At least not to me.
Why am I watching Maid In Manhattan? Why can't I stop?
People don't make actual "pound" cake anymore do they?
Don't they? I have no idea. Why not?
I do walk away from vats on burners, but I feel bad about it. And I wouldn't, say, leave one cooking all day while I was at work. Slowcookers have built in safety features, it's not illogical to think they are safer.
Don't they? I have no idea. Why not?
Because 1 pound of butter, sugar, flour, and eggs makes a huge-ass cake?
Well, that's why I don't make them that big, but surely people make them for the whole family or parties? Or maybe I am underestimating the huge-assedness.
Any DCistas around? I'm going to DC Big Flea tomorrow, and would love an antiquing buddy.
