Natter 67: Overriding Vetoes
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, nail polish, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I love our city politics right now. Our mayor just pulled a Palin, my city council woman sorta raised taxes by about .02 cents (this is the same woman the DMN thought might not do well in a mayoral race because she's a "new mom" read:girl) 3 other guys have come forward to run against her mostly on the raising taxes and keeping big gov't (she's also redeveloping my hood). One of them today tried to put her in her place by saying she was horribly rude just walking out at the end of the mayor's farewell speech.
My council woman is probably the most popular city politician. Seriously, she's constantly in contact with her constituents. She shows up at everything. She even replies to comments in the comment section of our local weekly rag, and this dude's going to call her out for not hanging out and thanking a guy everyone hates?
Now his fe-fes are hurt because everyone is bashing him like the pinata he just stood up and declared himself to be.
This shit is fun!
I thought that was called Reaganing.
Congratulations, Tom! That's great news!
Again, I would like to thank everyone for the usage of Jillifont. (There's a Tumblr I'm trying to decide if I'm going to unfollow: they post great alternative fashion images, and occasionally macros involving giant spiders.)
I thought that was called Reaganing.
I think Reaganing is more like when everything you do turns to gold? You're definitely TCBing when you are Reaganing but you don't necessarily have to be Reaganing to be TCBing. Dig?

Thanks, Lisa.
Anyway, it's a good thing to do but hard a lot of times.
ION, I am beyond tired right now. Maybe getting a cold? Just bleh. And made the mistake of going with co-workers to chain restaurant and having (tasty but) heavy food. I am wondering how long it would take anyone to notice that I've crawled under my desk and gone to sleep?

javachick, my husband had this surgery about 5 years ago. It wasn't awful at all. He was up on crutches the day after the surgery, and only missed one day of work. He was on crutches for a week or less I think. The PT wasn't bad, but it was difficult to work into his schedule and I'm pretty sure he didn't go to all of his appts. He is very happy that he had it done, his knee did this freaky snapping thing and it was pretty painful. He needs to schedule the other knee soon but his current PCP wants to do some other things first before they opt for surgery.
ETA: The worst part was that the surgeon came out afterward and showed me pictures of the insides of Mike's knee...they were sorta gross looking and I just wanted to know if he was OK, not look at pictures!

I went into healthcare in general because of a bunch of shitty gynecologists growing up who told me, for instance, that “when you” (me) “have sex with so many people” (I, like, halved the real number) “so young” (18) that “none of them care about you” (me). I figured the most direct way to ensure that there wasn’t a total asshole at the bottom of the table was to do it myself.
