Hey, preaching to the choir. I thought our Lady of the Perpetual Sea Breeze was the real deal until the Divine Miss J walked right through that door and right into my ass—which is where my heart is…physiologically. I could show you an x-ray.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, she was like, "Is that for Buffy fans?" I said "No! It's for work! Obviously...." We're cool.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I created a style sheet that took off the board name because I had a (nasty) boss come up to me and say "Is that a Buffy thing?"

Never again.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Several of those book sculptures look like they'd be at home in Mirrormask. Doesn't KatieBee do that sort of book art--if not quite at that level.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Good to hear, Jesse.

You've posted this in BBaBB++, if I recall correctly. I am going to need to borrow your style sheet once I leave this job. For now, I will continue to enjoy my office with a door for the next five months or so.

Dear Coworker - I am sorry you have trouble using the new calendar. But maybe you should consider learning how to use the new calendar, instead of having weekly 20-minute freakout whine-fests when you find yourself accidentally double-booked, eh?

not your mom's socks.

those books are stunning. and hurt my eyes. Agreed on the 'books are friends, not...' front.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I just had my review, which I wasn't holding out good hopes for. Turns out I got an "Exceeds Expectations" 4 out of 5, and a raise!

Woot, Kathy! Rock on with your bad self.

Several of those book sculptures look like they'd be at home in Mirrormask.

Oooooh. Good one. That is exactly what they look like!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yay, congrats, Kathy!

I am not looking at the books link, because I can't stand book damage! I accidentally folded a page of "Unseen Academicals" last night (fell asleep on it) and I nearly cried.

Today I had the cutest kid thing happen. We teach group music lessons, which are more or less controlled chaos, and mean that each student tends to shout for our attention as soon as he or she completes what she's doing. We've been trying to train them out of this, but it's hard, because you're excited, you've just learned something new, and you want to show your teacher. Who is working with someone else, who is excited, etc.

So today, the first time one of my students finished up, he called for me and I told him, "Hold on, okay, I'll be right there." The second time he finished (because he was blazing today, I tell you what.) he looked up to call for me, but saw that I was with another student, and so instead said quietly to himself, "I'll hold on." Dawwww. I could have just hugged him. I wish I'd spent a little more time reinforcing that behavior because it is so awesome! Self-discipline and patience will see him a long way in life if he can hang onto those skills.

Congrats, Kathy!

Liese, don't doubt you make a difference.
