Republicans Vote To Repeal Obama-Backed Bill That Would Destroy Asteroid Headed For Earth
From The Onion, of course. But here Sasha Volokh argues that in this hypothetical case:
I think there’s a good case to be made that taxing people to protect the Earth from an asteroid, while within Congress’s powers, is an illegitimate function of government from a moral perspective.
Asteroid defense and libertarianism
Note to self: Libertarianism = freaky.

Remember how CJ tried to scare the life out of me when he tried out for Guys and Dolls? He is Gambler #4 and is the guy who runs into the mission, like a complete maniac, to tell everyone to get out. Should be interesting.
I am sitting in an airport, waiting for shrift, watching Glee on Hulu, and torrenting Justified.
I do kind of like the future.
Is jealous of Dana.

Well, there's Libertarian and Crazy Libertarian. The government should do less and tax less vs. there should be essentially no government and seem to think that basically everything would work the same without government only they wouldn't have to pay taxes anymore.
Sasha Volokh was arguing that taxation is inherently bad because it's a violation of people's rights, but if the lack of a tax would lead to a greater violation of people's rights (say, through rioting and looting) then taxing people to pay for police is the lesser of two evils.
And it looks like Sasha views a potential asteroid collision on Earth as not violating people's rights, therefor it's wrong for the government to tax people to try to prevent it.
edit for clarity
I am deeply disappointed to learn that that photo is a manip, because it means there will not be a corresponding scene in a future movie.
I am also disappointed to find that no one carries fleece-lined tights in plus sizes.
That sounds like somewhere between Libertarian and Crazy Libertarian where general welfare is considered off the table. Maybe this is a case of philosophy vs. bullshit philosophy: the studying of problems and principles vs. justifying positions that are obviously batshit crazy.
I have been cleaning the house most of the day. I did submit my resume on a job, but I did not attach a cover letter. I need to write one up and go back to add it to my submissions. I also marked two other jobs for apply for. The department asst positions at this one company all say they require typing 50wpm and proficiency tests on MS Office products. I haven't used powerpoint much in the last 3 years, but it took me less than a day to put together the first thing I was asked to do in it like 10 years ago. I learn stuff fast, just hire me.
