It seemed to me that there would be a fine line between fizzy fruit and exploding fruit with the CO2inator.
Yeah, the article mentions that.
I really want to try fizzy fruit. I suppose I'd have to make my own c02intor....
ION, I am alone in our new office. Can't get our fancy network switch to talk to our cable modem. (Currently I have my work computer plugged directly into the modem.)
Well I have done NO JOB STUFF, but I have 2 new light fixtures (oldish ones from my grandma's house) up, 2 sprinkler heads getting fixed, and my backyard got raked and the patio swept. Dad came over to help. YAY!
Now I should really do job stuff.
Can you fizz with grain alcohol?
Sure, but it's not really FRUIT GO BOOM effect -- carbonation is just forcing CO2 into something at pressure; you can do it with whatever liquids you want although it may gunk up the machinery. (Any decently hackerish homebrewer and/or paintballer has probably tried years before soda machines got to be a yuppie thing)
Alcohol (like gasoline) pretty much only burns at the vapor stage, not as a liquid -- that's why flambeing stuff happens while cooking and not just out there in the wild. Whether it's carbonated or not is irrelevant to the burning behavior. Everclear just vaporizes more completely and easily than something that's half water.
OTOH fizzing fruit to the point of explosion is really just pumping them up too full. NOT GOING BOOM, which is what the part of my brain that watches way too much Mythbusters envisioned when I heard "exploding fruit".
I think we need some serious research into BOOM fruit.
Also, possibly in a slightly weird mood.
I'm pricing out airfare for Vegas to see my sister and her family at the end of April,
You should go at the beginning of May instead, when -t and I will be there.
When are you going to be there? I was planning on 4/28 to 5/2, and I'd have that Friday free, but maybe I can move it up a week!
I did one onerous task! (filled out and faxed in the FDSA form for last year.)
Now I should be doing work stuff, but instead I am doing some beta reading and contemplating what one should wear to a drag brunch, because Juliana and I are going here
May 1-3!
Oooh, really? Maybe I can fly back later in the day on the 2nd, and we can meet for late breakfast/lunch? My sister works at the Venetian, and I could just ride into work with her, meet you guys, and then take a shuttle to the airport from there!
Just read in Salon: ""Firefly" ended in 2002, much to the dismay of fan boys who were happy to have a show that girls wouldn't mind watching with them, though the ladies were often more interested in the Han Solo-esque star of the show, Captain Mal Reynolds."

Righteo, then.
Wait, boys watched Firefly?
