Dawn: I thought you were adequate. Giles: And the accolades keep pouring in. I'd best take my leave before my head swells any larger. Good night.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I wonder if lh readers have always been more likely to read feeds and/or follow links to individual posts, rather than hanging around on the site itself as its own destination?

It's an interesting thought. The redesign is for more pageviews and to make advertising more visible. If the only site that's not experienced a marked downturn is being consumed by people who're skipping steps and missing the ads anyway, it's a bigger miscalculation than I'd thought.

And it's big--I need to re-read the terms of the traffic bet Denton made. Man, I love IO9 and the editors big time, but big daddy? Doucherag.

I just installed Picasa on my laptop so I can tag my fanart reference photos. It does facial recognition! And it can almost tell the difference between Misha and Castiel. Uh, not to sound vaguely obsessive, or anything.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Gawker traffic numbers look terrible: [link]

Good. Because every time I go to IO9 now I feel constrained and frustrated and end up yelling, "Fuck you, IO9!"

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I read Jezebel through an RSS Feeder, but every time I click through to read the comments (which are often better than the articles) I want to kill someone.

not your mom's socks.

Went back home to get a cable. There were 10,000 full trash bags with our ceilings in them on our front sidewalk. . Ok not that many but almost. Looks like the 'simple fix' wasn't possible. Otoh? I wasn't there when whatever went Down went down. So I'm only about half as freaked as I would have been. Probably.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I invited him to come in and check and he just said that I could've turned it off before I answered the door.

It's been my experience that when someone is playing music so loudly that I can hear it in my house, I can hear it from outside of the door.

That's because you're a skimmer and don't go to [link] So you deserve the anguish.

I totally agree, the earth will still be around.

One generation passes away, and another generation comes;
But the earth abides forever.

Ahhh, so much better.

But now I'm yelling, "Fuck you, David Kelly!"

Maybe I'm just irascible.

Because books.

Seriously? A fourteen-year-old isn't capable enough to care for his own three-year-old sibling for a half hour? And the kids' mother lost her job because of the caution she received.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

From that article:

England's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children actually states no one under the age of 16 should be allowed to babysit!

I was babysitting at 12, and a busy babysitter, at that. I know that from what I've heard from coworkers and friends, most teen girls are done babysitting by the time they go to high school at 14.
