I'm surprised to see there aren't any Borders near me here. But the ones I used to go to in upstate NY are closing.
One near me is closing. I'm surprised by that, since it's in a very heavily trafficked mall. The other one near me already closed.
The Borders I used the most was already closed, but I see the one in Lawrence, KS is closing shop. Wow, I've actually avoided going there because it was TOO crowded.
After lazying around this morning moping, I am showered, dressed, and just did job hunt related task. I have 2.5 hours before I need to leave the house, so I should be able to crank out some stuff.
The one I used to go to in downtown Chicago closed a month or so ago. There won't be any more Borders anywhere near me to go to.
4 in this area closing, and I'm honestly surprised they were still open this long -- they've been more or less empty for years.
Two in SF and one in Alameda are closing. I think the one in Emeryville stays open, though.
Oh, I also forgot to say, Yay ! because that was one awesome dog.

The Borders in Langhorne, PA was always a ghost town when we lived near there. The one in the big mall in Syracuse was pretty busy, but it was in a big mall.
This bankruptcy doesn't have as much to do with the retail viability of the stores as other factors, though, I think. I think they're also being forced to close some of the more profitable stores simply because they need to, due to the terms of the filing.
