oh no Suzi! Fingers crossed he just decided to go home with a new school friends and didn't think to tell you. *gulp* I took 2 missing kid calls yesterday and both of them were eventually found totally fine, a couple blocks away playing happily. I have to commend all the involved parents for not immediately throttling said children.

Re morals and ethics: I'm actually quite fascinated that it's become so entrenched that they're different things. Strictly, they're not; Merriam-Webster, for instance, lists onee definition of morals as "ethics". Within moral philosophy, they're still used entirely interchangeably. And, of course, in derivation they're simply the Latin and the Greek for exactly the same thing.
Nonetheless, so many people use them as if they meant something different, and when they do, I'll recognise certainly recognise that they're drawing some kind of private/public internal/external distinction. English may well be evolving here, in that "if people are wrong for long enough, they become right" kind of way.
CJ, get your ass home.
I think about the number of times I pulled shit like that without even thinking it was any big and what my mom went through and oy.
Oh, Suzi, phew.
Whew. DON'T DO THAT, CJ!
What -t said.
Suzi, thank goodness! Oh man CJ, totally not cool, not cool at all.
Yeah, he was found, walking home from school over 2 hours late. His dad found him. I was home talking with 2 police officers to file a missing person's report.
My dear, darling child decided at lunch today to see if he could join the cast of Guys and Dolls and had been in the drama room the whole time. I had stopped by the drama room when I was searching the school. I didn't see him through the window and I didn't hear his voice. Plus he had never mentioned the play to me, has never done a play in the past, so I didn't open the door to look further.
He has gotten an ear full from his dad and me. Plus hearing his sister cry with frustration. Now he is working on home work and I've put myself on time out in my room to calm down.
Thanks for all the ~ma.
I'm glad CJ's ok, Suzi.
my problem with the health care bill is the continued reliance on insurance companies.
Yes. They don't add any value to the medical system. What say we put the money that would be going into insurance company profits into paying for more, better paid nurses? Home health care to support aging in place? Student loan forgiveness for health workers who are willing to work in underserved areas? You know—stuff that actually improves the health of the population.
