I've really got to learn to just do the damage and get out of town. It's the 'stay and gloat' that gets me every time.

Oh, god, when I did customer service for the post office, I had a woman ask if she could overnight ship some kittens. She's a breeder and someone had bought the kittens. I still get sick thinking of her. "But people ship chicks!" "Yes, from a few specifically designated post offices in specifically designed boxes with specific handling instructions." I should have reported her. The supervisor I mentioned it to just said, "So?"

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Youse guys, this is what the good stuff tumblr is to combat. Go look.

Also, lemon bars.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Everything I'm trying to do today is aggravating.

My email was down for a while today because we set off the brute force thinger.

I need to rereconcile because my numbers are off. Before I do that it wants me to back up, wise. But the backup is failing.

I downloaded my bank statements for the reconciliation and realized that my old hosting company is charging me. I did their live chat thing, with someone who doesn't speak English and it took an hour to convince them of what was wrong. Then they told me I needed to fax the credit card! and bank statement to a number. So I got fed up and called the number on the bank statement, where I got a puzzled English speaking tech who said that the person on live chat had successfully cancelled and a refund was pending and gave me a ticket number, saying no further action was required on my part. ?? I'll believe it when I see it.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Want lemon bars. Must make.

That cubicle-shelf house is innovative and neat. But I could never relax with all the square corners. I love wood finishes, but the same wood finish and no other finishes on the walls, plus the endless grid pattern...well, it would be like living in a beehive. Only square. A+ for innovation and utility. C- for comfort on my scale.

I have no problem levying cruel punishment on people who are cruel to animals or kids. The world wouldn't miss them.

In a complete change of mood, to end on a high note, Happy Birthday, Suzi! And yay to a daughter who is wise in the ways of what sort of contents one should box and send in the mail!

4 days till my 50th birthday. I'm beginning to enjoy the idea, kind of like when I turned 30 and thought, "Well, if my mother keeps trying to run my life at this point, it's her problem." I am now girded up to go "Back off, kid, I'm 50 and don't have to listen to your shit."

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh! And I did get to pick up my Zoya order from the post office. I didn't hear back from their customer support, but I was wrong to have harangued the Fedex people, because instead of line two of my address, where it said my town and explicitly not to send it USPS, they just put my name again. Which was unhelpful.

Anyway. I like the color lock system a lot, and I think the hurry up drops are going to be my salvation. I'll have to see how long it wears, but it won't be with this coat, because although the pink is a perfectly cromulent pink, I don't love it. I doctored it up with a few layering things, and it looks fine. It's just that I don't like pink. I don't know why I feel obligated to have pink. I should probably just play around with my other neutrals and be happy.

But! My namesake color looks gorgeous in the bottle, a shimmery gold red. So that'll be this weekend's color.

well, it would be like living in a beehive

See? Like the Borg.

Happy birthday, Suzi.

I'm off to drop off the not-working yet under-warranty espresso machine with the service center. Do people really still fix stuff? I expect they'll just give us a new one, though.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The fencing company that is coming to make an estimate on Monday is Borg Fencing. My dad made a joke about resistance being futile when he talked to them and they had never heard that before.
