Natter 67: Overriding Vetoes
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, nail polish, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
My sheets setup is pretty simple--I go for burgundy, navy, or black, and mix and match. And jewel toned blankets. I don't buy in complete sets, just bits and bobs here and there. No patterns. High thread count cotton for my normal bed, beech for the spare.
Hey, LAistas, I might need to beg a pharmacy run tomorrow. Could anyone help?
bon! We need to watch TV again soon.
Rice pudding is with leftover rice, isn't it? (x-post, of course)
Your swiped glass towels reminded me, Bev, one of our family heirlooms is some monogrammed silver - I can't remember if it is a single piece or a single place setting, but I think it's, like, a knife - that some ancestor took from a hotel (I think his employer) because it was also his initial. I think my mom has it, still.
You can give me a call ita, I should be around.
I never thought of ebaying some of the old keepsakes that have trickled into my house. Some of this stuff would make an artist wibble in excitement.
edit: though getting over the idea of a family keepsake possibly being taken apart will take some getting used to. I'm such an animist.
Also? Cass is taunty with the handwriting print pillowcases. WANT
Connie, I fibbled so long about how, whether, and to whom to sell my foremothers' accumulata. I gave some things to friends I knew would appreciate them and just donated the rest to the cause. Decisions and rammifications kept me paralyzed. Did I get rid of some things I wish I'd kept? Yes, a handful. Those don't balance out against the truckfulls of stuff that aren't hanging over me like psychic weight. I felt like the little junk woman in Labyrinth trying to make those decisions. I don't now.
Not giving advice, here. Just relating my personal experience.
bon! We need to watch TV again soon.
Absolutely. Stuff has been not happening because of the new job; I'm going to the OC again tomorrow for the week. How about 2/19?
I felt like the little junk woman in Labyrinth trying to make those decisions. I don't now.
Ahahahahaha. Yes. That is how I feel right now, going through the BOXES AND BOXES of stuff my Mom had squirreled away. Jesus, the woman could have opened her own yarn & needlepoint shop.
Thanks, burrell. I need to not need to get med refills on a Sunday. We'll see if they let me fill it.
Bon, I will pencil you in. You really need to see the end of S2, and I need to get back into Wire. Your silly job.
Oh! Your meetiversary with rob rob is soon.
Which reminds me, for some reason I'm grumpy about Valentine's this year. Not sure why. Normally I'm okay with whatever. Halloween made me grumpy too. Candy holidays bad? WTF?
bonny! Find someone with a button box--I'd send you my grandmother's, but I gave it to a friend who makes her living from her ebay store--or who collects or keeps old photographs --also given to the ebay cause. Hey, I figure anyone willing to pay for old buttons or old photos wants them and will use them more than me. And this way my friend gets to feed herself and her rescue animals.
Oh my god. I could totally open my own vintage ebay shop with all this stuff. Buttons? check. Old photos? check. Bits n bobs of old silver, like salt cellars and teeny tiny funnels? check.
huh. Never really thought about ebay for all this. Actually, despite having taken an ebay university class, I find the whole process pretty intimidating.
But I WOULD love to turn these stores of things into cash...and space.
Oh! Your meetiversary with rob rob is soon.
I know! We're buying iphones and doing dinner on the 18th. EIGHT YEARS.
