'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I've started the dough for homemade pizza. Later I'm going to make egg bread, and maybe an apple cake, so the kitchen will be all warmed up from the oven.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Made it back from breakfast. I observed a new technique for clearing a car of snow - someone had a big Crown Victoria, and they had three small children climbing on top of the car and pushing snow off it.

As I got home, I talked to a guy driving. He was stuck at a stop sign. His way forward was blocked, and if he backed up, the front plastic part of his car would snag on the snow and begin to tear off. He told me he'd made a big mistake driving today.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Can anyone make sense of the maps here? They don't seem very precise. [link]

It seems to be saying what number of households will lose power, but if they shut it off to an area, wouldn't that be all the people?

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I thought that electric companies' grids mean that everyone in an area would be all the people, but I could be wrong.

I'm going to cover up and head outside around 3:00 to dig my car out before the temp drops like a rock tonight. I don't want to be digging it out in the morning when the temp is hovering around zero.

Some pictures taken with my iPod Touch. I'm not that happy with most of them, but I didn't feel like tromping around to get better ones.

This picture (from the Trib) is better: Abandoned vehicles litter northbound Lake Shore Drive on Tuesday morning.

eta: The city says they shouldn't have been on Lake Shore Drive in the first place.

Bank has been delt with. I have a new card and will spend the evening updating my various auto-pays. Oh, and I have to get a cashier's check to pay my rent since that got caught in the middle of all this.

Since I was out and about I actually went into the office. And none of my cube neighbors are here. It is too darned quiet. I need music or something but forgot my iTouch at home.

It is currently -1 here. I should have CJ try the boiling water thing since he is HOME. Temp is supposed to get up to 37 tomorrow, but with a wind chill of -3. Wonder if they will PLEASE let the kids go to school. The road are nice and clear and the forecast for snow is minimal. It is just frigid.

Yeah, usually there's a bit more traffic than that.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Onerous task done! I swept a foot of snow off my car, while it was heating up, and Dan was shoveling the sidewalk, and two teenage boys with shovels are walking down the street!

We are getting Dan's car dug out (it was on the street -- he couldn't make it in the driveway, and it was plowed in pretty well) and I swept his car off, and then went into make hot cocoa and get cookies for the boys.

$30 to shovel the drive and dig D's car out? A BARGAIN. And I scored their numbers for shoveling and lawn mowing.

ONEROUS TASK WIN.
