Who's afraid of big, bold brows?

Speaking of the Trib, lots of storm stuff here, including a rather disturbing report of a woman who was driving to work and a dead tree branch fell and crashed through her front windshield, impaling her. (Whitefonted for disturbing imagery.)

Power is apparently back on at my place (at least, my answering machine is picking up), but someone here at work had to reschedule his dentist's appointment since the power is out at the dentist's office the next suburb over. And we've been having some instances of flickering lights here this afternoon.

Michigan's expecting another round of high winds tomorrow. As my sister's flying out of Detroit tomorrow evening, this may affect her visit with me. I hope not.

My car's a two-year old Honda Fit. I'm hoping it'll carry on the Honda tradition of lasting 10+ years, or until I move to a place with a real winter (whereupon I'll look for something larger and heavier).

I have a coworker with a Fit, and she has no problems dealing with Chicago winters.

My Lincoln is about 52 years old. Has about 60,000 miles on it.

But is it a Hot Rod Lincoln?

My new-to-me Chevy Corsica is 16 years old and makes me drive too fast. Really, it's the car's fault. I'm not used to driving something with actual acceleration. G-forces feel good.

The engine is hot rod-ish - a 430 CID 350 HP 10:1 compression ratio wedge-head MEL (Mercury, Edsel, Lincoln) series engine with four-barrel carb. But the engine is very heavy and so is the car. I think Popular Mechanics said its top speed is around 120 mph.

Serpentine belt tenser! I actually remembered a car thing!

Mine had nothing to do with braking, meara--it was when the car was warming up. And then it went away, so I ignored it. Until it started doing it all the time, which meant it had seized and was about to shatter. Oopsie.

My Accord squealed on braking because of an accumulation of brake dust, and they said they couldn't make it stop. It was annoying.

Brows done! Why can't people follow simple instructions? I say don't wax between the brows, don't wax between the brows. She waxes between the brows. Once you put wax on, is there any way to get it off other than ripping? Because I did repeat not to after she applied it.

Still, if it does breakout, hopefully not for too long.
