Is that the one across from the Whole Foods? I drove by it on New Years Day with my friend Tami, who lives up there, while we were heading towards the movie theatre in Evanston.

Nope. It's in this outdoor mall thing that borders Howard (right next to the Howard CTA station). Across the street are some car dealerships.
I went to the store in KC at about 3 yesterday, and it wasn't bad. I wonder how it was after more people got off work, though.
GUYS! I SLEPT NORMALLY LAST NIGHT!!!
I am out of Ambien, but I went to sleep after giving Gosford Park a 2nd try (still didn't love it) and I fell asleep about 20 minutes after laying down at midnight and slept through the night just fine!
Seriously, I post this because the last time this happened was...I don't even know. 10 years? 15?
Obviously, I need to watch GP every night in pre-blizzard conditions. That MUST the be magic, right?
My life plan is SET! I'll be quitting my job tomorrow, since obviously the pre-announced snow day was a factor, as well.
It is snowing busily and expected to get worse as the afternoon progresses. DH texted that fed employees are leaving earlier, and employees who can WFH are instructed to do so. He's a contractor, so he doesn't know if he will leave early yet -- they never have -- but it's a possibility.
I hope so, since a state of emergency has been declared and people are instructed not to drive unless absolutely essential.
I have a carton of smokes, plenty of food and a ton of papers to grade. I am set.
Sigh. Why is it almost every non-attending doctor (and even some of the attendings) looks like someone I could have babysat? They're like zygotes!
Erin, why didn't you like Gosford Park (though it certainly put me to sleep! perhaps better than Ambien!)
Good: I made it to the grocery store, shopped for all the groceries I could need for the next week, and drove home safely.
Then... backing into my parking space, the engine cut out and makes weak & pathetic clicky noises when I try to turn it back on.
I guess I'm calling AAA. Good thing I'm at home with all my toys, because in weather like this, I bet I'm going to be waiting a while....
The Jewel on Ashland was a madhouse last night. The lines stretched for almost the full length of the aisles.

That's what I was expecting last night - I think I lucked out.

I think because it was more a clever melange of scenes than an actual developed storyline. Which is why I don't love Altman movies in general.
I thought it was too busy -- I never knew who was really who, until the end - like, the last 5 minutes, and there was just too many people to keep track of and too much happening for a 2 hour movie, and necessarily, I felt like there was just shallow little dips into character and plot, rather than a deeper look. If it were a book, I would be bitching about it being all mostly exposition, less characterization.
Having watched DA and GF, I feel like DA is what GP should have been -- a slower unveiling of the exposition, and deeper examination of characterization, with multiple plotlines that are developed and progress nicely.
I didn't HATE GP, but I certainly don't feel compelled to watch it again.
The leading edge of the storm has reached Peoria.
