I don't give a good gorram about relevant, Wash. Or objective. And I ain't so afraid of losing something that I ain't gonna try to have it. You and I would make one beautiful baby. And I want to meet that child one day. Period.

Because books.

That's the way we wound up with Cortez, actually. We'd seen him stray in the neighborhood for a few weeks, and one day he walked onto the back porch and just never left.

Well, Pooch is initially wary of strangers. But once S gives her seal of approval, you are a friend (and potential crash pad, apparently) for life.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Having observed how the KC area handled the last big snow, I decided to try something different this time. I've booked a room at a hotel near where I work downtown and packed a bag to take in with me tomorrow.

If the storm is less severe than forecast, I shall take all the credit.

This meara is in a hotel also, bon! It's actually a fairly nice one, but since I got home at 11PM Friday and left again at 5AM on Monday...well.

The life of meara also involves three headaches in three days, sadly, though Sunday's was really my own fault--that one was a hangover (with accompanying nausea! whee! Um, helped keep my diet though...)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So, I'm reading a baseball blog with a reference to various sports writers back in the early sixties. Tell me if one of these names just jumps out at you and makes you snort:

The only other sportswriters covering that spring training were my sports editor, Gordon Cobbledick, who had given me the job, columnist Frank Gibbons and baseball writer Regis McAuley of the Cleveland Press, and columnist Jim Shlemmer of the Akron Beacon Journal.

msbelle:

anyone know if Kat's DC thing got funded? We have other Public School teachers on here that could submit one? Erin? Pix? ChiKat?

I haven't been funded. It's at: [link] I'd love any donation at all, including $1 donations because that helps move my project up the board.

Amyth, I'm so sorry about Lulu.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yikes. I always suspected she was the model for the Other Mother in the movie version of Coraline.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Huh. Is she shooting people in the face?

ita, it's medguest2 and caring, yes?

DAMN, my neck huts and my eyes are out of focus. I'm TIRED. And our mnurse (the m is a silent M like mnemonic) for Grace is sitting in his car (and has been for the 90 minutes he's been off) waiting for his friend to come and replace his car battery. We can't get to the battery with jumper cables and he doesn't want to come in. Hmmmm... odd.
