That's a lovely photo! And congrats on the mile!
Happy day, Anne!
We went to the dog sled races today. Overslept, so we didn't make it to the big numbers; they were doing three and four dog races by the time we got there, but still super awesome. It was the first time I'd been, so I was excited.
The SO went last year, and he said you couldn't even see the parking lot existed because of how high the snow drifts were. But this year driving up we were worried there wouldn't be enough snow on the track for the dogs. But it was fine since it was at 9100 feet.
We are expecting precipitation this week as well, and it's windy and cloudy, so we probably really will get it. But I'm guessing it's likely to be rain. I hauled the last of the firewood anyway. I think we'll need to buy one more cord if we can get it. But what we have split is under cover, anyway.
perkins - if you pick them up and move them to the sofa, will they notice?
Happy Birthday, Anne!!!
meara, who wouldn't want to go home with adorable you? I guess I should be glad your friend was there to talk the situation down...
Aww, one of my former students just posted a picture of my former front yard. I was all, hey, I recognize those trees, and I looked closer and sure enough, there was my birdfeeder that I'd hung, and then the tree grew over the next five years and I never could get it back down. All nostalgic now.
It has been a nice birthday! Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I'll be spending the rest of the day lounging by the fire and relaxing. I had my birthday dinner last night, which involved a fabulous steak, an amazing Cabernet Sauvignon, and creme brulee for dessert.
I'm glad I went in to work. While I was there, another co-worker came in to fetch his laptop. Apparently, the forecast for tomorrow is getting increasingly fugly. And now, Big Project is DONE, and I don't have to worry about getting my butt into the office if the driving is iffy.
Also, reason #48 why I love my company: When I stopped by our main campus to drop off the results of Big Project, I saw that the overhead sign indicating where the legal department is situated has been replaced by a large inflatable pterodactyl with a handwritten sign saying LEGAL DEPARTMENT hanging from its neck. What makes it even better is that our Managing Partner has to walk by that thing every day. So the question is: is one of the legal folk a dino-geek or a Torchwood fan?
cold from two weeks ago has boomeranged back with an awful cough and the feeling that something is sitting on my chest in order to use my head as a drumset. Is this fair? It is not fair. All my upright time was spent on snowdays, and school is closed for planning meetings tomorrow. If it snows again Tuesday night, I may go completely mad.
congrats, Kathy
I'm sorry, Sox.
.I want to take a nap but the cats decided to divvy up the bed territory for themselves and not me.
the sofa worked for me
Happy birthday, Anne!
Congrats on the one mile, Kathy. Hey, are you starting to sport bruises on the back of your hands from hitting the lane markers? I swear, I get at least one a week, more if I get stuck sharing with a lane hog.
Pretty lazy day here. I actually did NOTHING for a whole hour! Now all the bedding on the futon, including pillows is in the dryer and apparently the canvas of the futon makes Loki kuh-ray-zee. The other cats are avoiding him. Speaking of which, I really think the 2 days of telecommuting reset Devi's relationship to me. She's being very cuddly, and more talkative. A lot like she used to be before I inflicted Loki on us. She wasn't unhappy before (well, not after a month or two) just even more aloof, and she was pretty snotty to begin with.
Hrmp. By the time I call it quits tonight, at about 9, I imagine, I will have worked 75 hours this week.
DO. NOT. WANT.
