"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

It was super nom! I'm glad I decided to splurge and go. It was a nice way to relax and enjoy the end of the trip. Plus, it's never wrong to eat macadamia nut encrusted mahi mahi.

I had a good trip. Thanks so much for spending time!

I would love the USPS, but they won't come to me. I tell this to people, and they are always, so...are you general delivery? No, I have NO mail delivery. They're all...rural box? I am rural. I am so rural that there are no rural boxes.

But UPS and Fedex and even DHL will slog it out here to me just fine. So, whatevs.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Finally! Canned Whisky

A Panama-based company believes outdoor drinkers would prefer to crack open a tin rather than lug round a bottle of their favourite tipple.

Now bosses at Scottish Spirits – which retains an office in Glasgow – is testing out the novelty on its Caribbean and South American markets.[...]

Scottish Spirits launched the tins last week, the first time straight whisky has been sold in a can.

Chief executive Manish Panshal said: ‘We are really thrilled with the idea – it’s going to be a part of every lifestyle and occasion.

"...a part of every lifestyle and occasion"? I, um, admire their optimism.

My coworkers are joking about buying me a bottle of scotch for last week.

I SO deserve one, damnit. Even cheap shit.

Compassionately intolerant

I love my UPS guy. He's sweet and does yeoman's work. He has even forgiven me for Bartleby scaring the crap out of him a few years ago.

Similarly, my regular USPS guy is the bomb diggity. Such a sweetheart.

But, more than anything, it rocks to live above a local retail establishment that receives deliveries for pretty much everyone in the 'hood. In general, I'm shocked when delivery people actually knock at my door. They just go straight to the store. Which, eh. I don't really care.

Lunchtime Clock Slows Down Time When You're Off Work

Thanks to great in advances in clock technology, I present to you a clock that speeds up 20% every day at 11:00 and slows down 20% every day at 11:48, giving you an extra twelve minutes of lunch to enjoy. Twelve minutes may not seem like a lot but, to put it into perspective, this is a full additional hour of lunchtime gained every week.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Sorry you are joining the thankfully small ranks of buffistas who had murders in front of where they live (um, I think that's just you and me so far.)

Nope! Happened to me in my old neighborhood. Awful, really - a cab driver who got into a fare dispute with a passenger. Said passenger beat the shit out of him and then jumped in the cab and ran him over.

Oh, and my friend just a few weeks ago (she lives more up by shrift). The whole story was basically summed up as "Took the dog out for a walk: no dead guy. Got home from the walk: dead guy." We never did find out what happened there.

Oh yeah - me too. (One of the murders in Mpls was in front of our house. A drive-by shooting - a housemate was home and heard the shots and saw the car drive away.)

me three! In front of my old place in DC, not in Seattle (and the 7-11 directly under my floor was shot up, but I don't think they actually killed the clerk, though they did shoot the ceiling/my floor)

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Someone shot my car when it was parked in front of my house in Alameda. Never figured that one out.

The only murder was not near home. Driving through Oakland, a car in front of me stopped, a guy hopped out, shot/killed a guy in another car, hopped back in his car and drove off. . This was about 3 blocks from the police station.

brillig

I've begun thinking that eBay is the savior of the USPS, because no one sends letters anymore, but we all need to ship our stuff.
