msbelle - there's an online game caller typer shark (or something like that) that one of my dispatch coaches had me play during down time to improve typing speed and accuracy for things like numbers and punctuation and random capitalization (i.e. not typing what you are thinking - at which i am fantastic). It was helpful and less onerous than the typing tests for temp agencies. I did some of those and the things that tripped me up were always random capitalization of numbers.
eta: i'd post a link, but since our internet "upgrades" i can no longer access online games. thpppppppt.
So, the tumblr queue situation is effed up again, sorry. FYI.
Hec, dear, this made me think of you: [link] what with the bubblegum and all.
I am trying to decide if I go in or just keep working from home today. No real reasons for me to go in work tasks wise. New boss is working at home today. Roads are likely fine but may crap up again by evening commute. I guess only reason for going in would be to impress people who actually don't care.
Also, if I stay home I can go to a late afternoon yoga class.
As long as no one pisses me off, we're good.
Stay home, lisah! I only came in because it's much easier to yell at people for information when you are physically present.
Huh. Evidence Emerges That Laws of Physics Are Not Fine-Tuned For Life
Slashdot says:
eldavojohn writes "A common argument one might encounter in intelligent design or the arduous process of resolving science with religion is that the physical constants of our world are fine tuned for life by some creator or designer. A University of Alberta theoretical physicist claims quite the opposite when it comes to the cosmological constant. His paper says that our ever expanding universe has a positive cosmological constant and he explains that the optimum cosmological constant for maximizing the chances of life in the universe would be slightly negative: 'any positive value of the constant would tend to decrease the fraction of matter that forms into galaxies, reducing the amount available for life. Therefore the measured value of the cosmological constant, which is positive, is evidence against the idea that the constants have been fine-tuned for life.'"

Yeah, that is me today.
I only came in because it's much easier to yell at people for information when you are physically present.
Coming into the office doesn't give me this benefit. The people I need to yell at today are in Salt Lake City, Portland, and Redding.

It's a nice day today, here, maybe I could take a road trip for you?
