so many online job application sites SUCK! I could do a great service to a great many companies by troubleshooting these sites and working with their developers to getthem fixed. good googaly moogaly. Site1 would just freeze up if you entered something in a field that did not meet their requirements (like dates needed to be YYYY/MM/DD), but the requirements WERE NOT GIVEN!
Site2 just had me go through a big long job search form and then proceeded to show me jobs NONE OF WHICH WERE IN LOCATIONS I CHOSE!

I'm watching Off the Map and yeah, annoying. There are so many Spanish speakers in the US now that Peace Corps doesn't place anyone in those countries that doesn't already speak it. We're to believe that this is a highly competitive application process and they accept people who can't even count in Spanish, much less have any of the specialized vocabulary a doctor needs? Ok.

I mean, who doesn't know the word "gringo?" NB: there are other annoying things, I'm just stuck on the language right now. I've never taken Spanish, but I recognize the words for "thirteen," "whitey," and "wife." (Okay, I have learned three other Romance languages, but still.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
Off The Map might turn out to be the sort of cheese that irritates me so strongly that I can't keep going, even though I like a couple of the cast members a fair amount.
Maybe if I'd grown up poorer or richer it wouldn't be so bad, but I feel kinda oddly fetishised right now.
