Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

My favorite is Jess, Dylan, and Aeryn together on the couch. Beautiful pics, Jess.

Good for Cass! And also good for stable.

Excellent rugby calendar, thank you! I explored the possibility of purchasing a hard copy (shut it) to grace my office wall. Lord knows it's pretty, but I can buy a lot of compensatory pretty for that price. Still, nummy.

H fusses at me for coming to bed late and getting up later than he does. Not my fault the man needs 10 hours of sleep. I have trouble sleeping six in one go. And I have trouble falling asleep, so often I'm up till 3:00 or thereabouts.

We lost power dead on midnight last night. No internet, no electricity to run the computer to work on offline stuff, no light to read by, though I suppose I could have managed candles. I brushed my teeth and went to bed.

And woke at 5:00. Tried really hard to fall back asleep, to stay in bed. Nah. H heard me trying to be quiet. "You just getting to bed?"

"Nah, I've had my five hours, I'm up." Any bets I'll be up till at least 2:00 tomorrow morning?

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

You would think an office of scientists and engineers could come up with a notification plan for severe weather

Having worked at MIT, may I just say: HAAAAA haaa haaaaaaa.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Not taking that bet. I'm the same way, but since I'm still working I have to force myself to bed by midnight and no later. I still wake up before the alarm at 6:15. Weekends, all bets are off.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am sleepy now...

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

I'll have to try mixing spelt with white flour. I generally use flour made of things other than ordinary wheat, but half-wheat bread might be less migraine-causing than full-wheat. (That was too many hyphens.)

Fantastic pictures, Jess! That's one gorgeous baby.

I'd show the rugby calendar to The Girl, who is a big fan, but I'm fairly sure she doesn't watch it for the male bodies. Just a vague impression I have.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

AZ Republicans Resign After Giffords Shooting, Citing Threats From Local Tea Partiers

Huh.

Just hours after 22-year-old gunman Jared Loughner launched a shooting spree at a Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) constituent event in Tucson on Saturday that left six dead and 14 wounded, Legislative District chairman Anthony Miller, a Republican, announced that he would resign his position. In an email to the state’s GOP chair, Miller cited “constant verbal attacks” after his election last year “and Internet blog posts by some local members with Tea Party ties made him worry about his family’s safety.” Many of his Republican colleagues followed him out the door:

...

Miller said when he was a member of McCain’s campaign staff last year has been criticized by the more conservative party members who supported Republican opponent J.D. Hayworth. The first and only African-American to hold the party’s precinct chairmanship, Miller said he has been called “McCain’s boy,” and during the campaign saw a critic form his hand in the shape of a gun and point it at him.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I probably shouldn't be trying to work today. I'm pretty sure I just sent off the wrong email, but I'm afraid to go check. Eh -- it's a day off!
