Black suit is handy if you need to attend a funeral, and anyway around the Bay Area it's a stylish look.
Yeah, it seems like that whenever the people at my company suits up, it's a black suit, so I was confused when the Internet was not supporting a black suit. Is black suit not good for weddings? I may have a wedding or two to attend this year.
Ooh, that suit also comes in taupe.
Gray is a lot more versatile than either black or navy, in my opinion.
How about this olive/taupe business? It's more on the grayscale.
In general, you shouldn't wear black to a wedding (or a funeral for that matter, unless you are particularly close to the family).
I admit that I don't know what would work with your skin tone, as opposed to my husband, who is almost as pale as I am.
But you could wear a gray suit to a wedding, a funeral, or work.
I am apparently a gray evangelist.
A black suit is always fine when navy might be recommended, I would imagine.

Even for men? Huh.
Edit: Oh, I can imagine confusion if the wedding party is in tuxes or whatever.

But where are you on grey?

I think it's fine unless there's a specific cultural objection (that is, from the bride and groom's cultural background) to black suits at weddings.
But generally black suits are fine around here.
In Texas, of course, you'd be a Columbine freakazoid for wearing a black suit anywhere but a funeral.
Navy blue is fine too. Or a nice pin stripe, or even a hipster chalk stripe.
Or you could get a vintage suit with nubby fabric!
Not black to a funeral? I've never heard that.
And I've seen men in black at weddings all the time. The rule for women seems to be loosening.

What? Dammit, what the hell is the point of a black suit? Geez.

Maybe the Men's Wearhouse guy will know.

Yep. I'd go and spend some time trying things on. This may be antithetical to how men usually buy clothes.
